I like Noel. It is familiar, but not something that you hear a lot. I don't think that it is feminine. I would pronounce it Nowl.

I know one Noel. He's about 60 and always have to correct people on the pronunciation. He insists on No-el (like "the first No-el the angel did say." He also uses the two dots above the e. He also wears bow-ties and never wears regular ties. Therefore, my impression of that name is tainted by the Noel I know. I personally would never use it. And I agree with previous posters--it's a tad feminine for my tastes.

Haha, I was reading your description of this little old man thinking that he sounded adorable! I totally wasn't expecting "my impression of that name is tainted". How funny!
I like it. It has a very British vibe to me, so I think of that. It doesn't really strike me as seeming feminine. I would pronounce it in the same way as acawood - "Nowl".

I love Noel! I just think it's very handsome and underused. I pronounce it no-uhl so that it rhymes with hole.

I wouldn't use it on a boy (maybe middle name would be fine though)! Noelle-for a girl though.
