Wink Lets Have a Spring (or Summer) Clean

Maybe it is Summer but sometimes our name lists can get a little dusty. Its time for some cleaning. Post your top say 30or so names. Hopefully someone else will pick your list and comment on every name so you can clean it up a bit. This way our Name List cleaning will be done in no time at all. Feel free to 'clean' more than one list or 'clean' a list that somebody has already 'cleaned' but make sure no one gets left out. And suggestions for new names can be posted also.

Happy Spring (or Summer or Autumn or Winter depending which country you are in) Cleaning Everyone!

    Girls:
Nola - Pretty, but I only think of New Orleans
Emiya - I don't know how to pronounce this one, looks made up
Persephone - LOVE (clearly, since it's on my list too)
Indigo - I used to dislike it, but now have come around to liking it, especially with the nickname Indie
    Maple - Tree
Skye - Still seems very hippie to me, but it's a cool name
    Wren - LOVE
Lauren - Sounds kind of musty, but still cute
Emiko - Again don't know to pronounce it but I'm guessing Emmy-co sort of? Cute with nn Miko
    November - Not a fan
Emmy - Cute, but not substantive enough for a full formal name
Mila - Eh, cute way to get to Mia, but Mia is enough on its own
    Marika - Not a fan
Hermione - Love, but nicknames become a problem
    Acacia - Interesting
Primrose - Love, but don't know if I'd have the guts to use it
Elektra - Prefer Electra visually, but don't really like either on an actual child

    Boys:

    Jasper - LOVE
Samson - Eh. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but I don't see the appeal
    Hugo - Cute!

I love commenting on lists! (Sometimes I can be a bit brutally honest, you have been forewarned)
I've bolded the ones I especially like.

    Girls:

    Nola - prefer Nora
Emiya - sounds like two nns shoved together
Persephone - so pretty; would love to see this on someone else's kid
Indigo - all I hear is, "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya..." even though it's a different name.
Maple - tree and syrup. Yum yum!
Skye - look how pretty and blue it is
    Wren - caw caw!
Lauren - love this as well as Laura
    Emiko - Eskimo?
November - after which comes December. Would make an interesting middle.
    Emmy - short for?...
Mila - Myla, Meela, or Milla?
    Marika - what the...?
    Hermione - Harry Potter
Acacia - national park (I know that's Acadia, but it's what I think of)
Primrose - adorable name I wish wasn't used in Hunger Games
    Elektra - *zap*

    Boys:

Jasper - I wish I didn't think of Horace and Jasper from the Aristocats. It's such a cool name.
Samson - really strong name, but Sam isn't a bad nn.
    Hugo - Victor
Proud author of Kissimmee, Orlando, Mary, Adam, Mississippi, Micah, Georgette, Evelyn, and so many many more

    Ditto everything I told whirligig.

    Girls:
Penelope (Poppy) - would rather have a Penny, but still adorable
    Genevieve (Ginnie) - jen-uh-vee-ev or zhan-vee-ev or jen-uh-veev?
Catherine (Cate) - is one of the best of the traditional names
Bridget (Birdie) - love Bridget, dislike Birdie.
Amelia (Amy) - not bad. I don't see why I can't call her Amelia
Gabrielle (Ellie) - Usually dislike Gabrielle, but Ellie is a nice nn twist
Aurora (Rori) - a little to princess-y, and Rori is too unisex for me
Sophia (Sophie) - glad that you're not using Sophie by itself. Just note how popular Sophia is
Phoebe (Fee) - Phoebe is wonderful. Please do not reduce your daughter to a price tag.
Jillian (Jill) - would prefer Lillian
Guinevere (Gwen) - is again, really princessy, but Gwen by itself is lovely.
Tamsin (Tess) - using a nn for a nn...
Eira (mn only) - pronounced how? Thank goodness it's in the middle
Caroline (Callie) - love all "line" names
Eleanor (Ellie) - Eleanor is stern, and Ellie is cute, making them a great pair
Emily (Emmy) - love Emily despite its popularity
Louisa (Lucy) - Louisa is one of my absolute favorites, but I feel like Lucy is a different name
Isolde (Izzy) - if she goes by Izzy, she will spend her life going, "No, I'm not Isabel."
Margaret (Maisie) - another good traditional one. I would prefer Maggie.
(and the ones I wouldn't use but love):
Delilah (Delie) - Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City...
Bronwen - love all Welsh "wen" names
    Suzanne (Suze) - prefer Susannah
Persephone (Pepper/Persie) - would love to see this pretty name on someone else's kid. And call them by their full name
Robin - if it's a girl, better stick to Robyn
Isobel - really loving this spelling recently; is-oh-bel is more refined sounding than is-ah-bel

    Boys:
    Arthur (Artie/Ace) - The kid's animated cartoon
    Sebastian (Baz) - Brideshead Revisited
Tristan (Tris) - really solid, traditional, and yet unique
William (Wim/Liam) - Love! Would prefer Will over all your nns, but would certainly never think of him as just a whim.
Percival (Percy) - prim and proper and British
Spencer (Pence) - not a bad surname. But would prefer not to refer to your son as a piece of money
Owen - like I said, love Welsh names
    Collin - not bad
Ryan (Ry) - I know too many Ryans at this point.
Charles (Chuck) - up chuck. would prefer Charlie.
Proud author of Kissimmee, Orlando, Mary, Adam, Mississippi, Micah, Georgette, Evelyn, and so many many more

Penelope (Poppy) - KEEP, I don't love long names, but Penelope is one of the few that I find okay. I LOVE Poppy!
Genevieve (Ginnie) - DITCH, Again, I don't love long names and this one is way too frilly for me.
Catherine (Cate) - KEEP, A little bit boring, but it's a classic. You can't go wrong with Catherine/Cate.
Bridget (Birdie) - KEEP, It's very lovely. Sounds soft, friendly and beautiful. I love Birdie too.
Amelia (Amy) - KEEP, If you live in the US I think it's a keeper. In the UK it's a bit too common, but still lovely of course.
Gabrielle (Ellie) - DITCH, Even though it's very frilly I don't find it pretty in any way. NMS.
Aurora (Rori) - KEEP, I don't really like Aurora in itself (too frilly) but I LOVE the nickname Rory/Rori.
Sophia (Sophie) - KEEP, Very common, but it won't go out of style. It's a beautiful name, but there's a lot of Sophias.

Jillian (Jill) - DITCH, I don't like it at all, but it might just be because of bad associations.
