I really like pp posters suggestion of Hannah.
I was also thinking along the same lines of using a name with Anne/ Anna in it.
    Arianne Li
    Arianna Li
Johanna Li (pp suggested this too)
    Adrianna Li
    Alannah Li
Roseanne Audrey Li (nn Rose- Rose A Li sounds lovely as it is similar to Rosalie!)
    Brianna Li
    Brianne Li
    Susannah Li (pp suggested)
    Susanne Li

Maybe too out there for your DH but a double combo?
    Anne-Claire Li

Some solid classics worth a mention: (I have suggest Anne as a mn to appease your DH... but Charlotte works well too!!)
Elizabeth Anne Li nn options wide and varied: anything from Beth to Eliza to Libby to Betsy
Victoria Anne Li nn Vicky or even Tori
Madeleine Charlotte Li nn Maddie or Leni or Lena ("Lay-nee"/ "Lay-nah" similar to your selected name of Elena- just don't mention the intended nn to DH!)

With the last name Li I am thinking something with a clear, sharp end to it as not to run into your last name and be confusing. Like Charlotte, it ends strongly and it wouldn't be unclear where the first name ends and the last begins.

Other ideas with a clear ending:
    Elizabeth
    Samantha
    Victoria
    Evelyn
Brianna as an Anna variation? Juliana?
    Alexandra
    Madelyn
    Scarlett
    Violet
    Rachel
    Megan
    Allison
    Juliet
    Rebecca
    Gwendolyn

I'm loving the name Annabeth at the moment. Could that work? Although it may be too smooshed/elaborate for your husband!

You know what would be a bold idea? Call her Anna, just Anna. It's so underused but you LOVE it!!!
Mama to the awesome Milo Edward.
