Any history?

I love the name, Selig. Just wondering whats the history on it? I know it's German and Zelig is the Yiddish form.

Other front runners for us: Noam and Asher.

Well it's the German word for "blessed". It's not a name in Germany, since word names are very uncommon and often not even allowed here, I mean as first names. Selig probably is used as a surname. The history? Well since it's not really a name but a word, I guess that's the history.

I pronounce it Seh-lig and Zelig is Zeh-lig.. I have been finding its used for Jewish families more than German. So it must be Hebrew?
