Hatsy, Pepper, Birdie and others
Hey Berries,
I've recently been crushing on these "cutesy" Nicknames. What are your favorite formal names to get these nick names? ::
Hatsy (Nickname for Harriet, but do you think it could be used on it's own? Will this age well?)
Kitty (I'm not sold on Catherine/Katherine yet)
Birdie (I'm thinking of using it on it's own or using Beatrice!)
Pepper (Guilty pleasure! Is this usable on it's own? What could be a formal name?)
Dulcie (LOVE this. Again, is this usable?)
Lua (love on it's own, what do you think?)
I also love:
Henrietta nn Etta
Minerva nn Minnie.
What are your favorite spunky nicknames??Mommy to Cosmo the cat

Hatsy -- I don't think this could stand on its own, but it's a cute nickname for a child named Harriet. As far as it aging well, I'm not sure I'd want to be called that still as an adult.
Kitty -- What about using a variation of Katherine as the first name? For instance, Katerina. Come to think of it, this could even be a cute nickname for Katelyn. Or, how about something like Cadence?
Birdie -- This is a cute nickname for Beatrice! Could also be used with a bird name as pp mentioned. Wren is my personal favorite.
Pepper -- Oh wow, this is really cute! Hmm, maybe Eponine or Eppie?
Dulcie -- I love this as a nn for Dulcinea or just on it's own.
Lua -- This isn't my style, but I think it could stand on its own.
Oh, and Henrietta nn Etta is lovely.

Generally, I don't have a problem with nickname names myself. I think some of them can be solid first names. That said:
Hatsy - feels a bit cutesy for a first name. I like Hattie a bit better. Harriet might be the best route to go.
Kitty - I like it well enough. It could probably stand as a first name, but I would probably use Katherine or even Kate to ground it.
Birdie - I have a soft spot for this one, because Bird is the middle name of one of my great great grandfathers. Maybe it could work on its own? I like the idea of Beatrice nn Birdie, though. I'm all for giving a kid options.
Pepper - I LOVE this. For a full name, how about Philippa or Penelope? I don't think Pepper itself is really a stretch, though. Piper is a familiar name. Why not Pepper?
Dulcie - Eh...
Lua - Not familiar with this one.
Etta - I actually like this on its own.
Minnie - I can't wrap my mind around this one. I do like Minerva, though.
My favorite spunky nicknames?
Lula (a family name that I LOVE)
Hattie (another family name)
Daisy
Maisie
Millie
Sadie (I have a cousin called this)
Gigi (I'd use it as a nn for Georgia)
PoppyElliot ~ Arlo ~ Silas ~ Deacon ~ Henry ~ Flynn ~ Adam ~ Samuel ~ Malachy ~ Jasper
Evangeline ~ Sofia ~ Bryn ~ Vivienne ~ Rosalee ~ Willow ~ Phoebe ~ Persephone ~ Daphne ~ Coraline

I think you and I have twin minds re: girls' names, @starrynight
Hatsy - Harriet is one ofmy fav names, and i alsoprefer Hatsy to Hattie.
Kitty - Catherine has to be a forerunner. perhaps Nikita also?or an irish name catriona (phonetical alternative: Katarina, also)
Birdie - adore this name i do. suggestions: Bernadette, Bridget and one i toy with a lot: Amber
Pepper - i feel this is substantial enough/
Dulcie - suggestions: Dulcette
Lua - this one is very cute. haven't heard of it before,i could suggest Luna, Louisa.Top Girls: Tessa, Audrey, Joyce nn Joy, Harriet, Lynn, Regina nn Reggie, Diana, Ivy, Anthea NN Thea
Top Boys: Theodore nn Theo, Quade, Miles, Cormac, Keith, Isaac, Jude, Flynn, Max.
Irish name Indulgances: Donncha, Padraig, Méabh, Gráinne.

Hatsy - I like Hatsy quiet well, also more than Hattie. I do think it needs to be a nickname, for Harriet and I think you could do for Henrietta as well!
Kitty - I like it but like Kit better. Besides Katherine and its ethnic variations....Keturah?
Birdie - I prefer it as a nn, for Beatrice works! Or for a bird name like Wren, Lark, etc.?
Pepper - I don't care for it, but, it could work, the right girl could pull it off. Fuller name could be Philippa, Penelope, Piper.
Dulcie - I like this, I like the Spanish Dulce better. But either way I just hear "dull" in English.
Lua - hmm. I'd prefer Lula or Luna. But this would work with a hefty enough last name, I think.
I also love:
Henrietta nn Etta - this is nice.
Minerva nn Minnie. - I have yet to get into seeing Minerva as rehabbed, but it does get love on here : D. Minnie I like more each time I hear it. Still pretty mouse-y, but slowly getting better...
Good luck!
