    I really Like Matisse. Yes it could be taken as Pretentious but with a nn like Max it seems very down to earth, but formal and sophisticated too. Millot I am not a big fan of merely because of the pronunciation issues that may ensue. I really like the suggestion of Millay too. Being from Maine she is an writer close to my heart. If you are looking at artist names for boys : Vincent, Henri ( I prefer the french spelling but that might be difficult for your child, depending on where you live) Leo, Alfred ( Tennyson) Walter or Whitman would be a very cool first names. Something like Whitman Henry and you can us the nn Whit. I love this.

    Thanks everyone so much for the compliments, suggestions, and thoughts! I really appreciate all of them. I think I'm going to start a new thread though, so I can get some thoughts on a wider breadth of names. I'll definitely be keeping both Millot and Matisse in mind for middle names, and maybe Millot as a first
