What do you think of Dev?

Not Devin, not Devlin, just Dev?

I kinda like it, but it reminds me a bit of Deb short for Deborah.

I like it ok. I think most will assume it's short for something. I really love the name Lev (pronounced to rhyme with Dev, not like leev). I think it would need to be paired with a long, strong middle name.

I prefer it as a nickname for Devlin or Devereaux. ^_^ I think it's handsome, but I think I would always assume it's a nickname.

it's too insubstantial on its own, it really needs a fuller name to fall back on.

I love it as a nn, but as a full name, I agree it's lacking something. I think it might get mistaken for "dove" (or even the Hebrew boys' name, Dov--I only think of that because of Rookie Blue, haha), as well. I think Devlin or Devereaux, nn Dev, would be great though.

I too think it sounds incomplete. But I am a bit of a hypocrite because I love the name Cy. Not Cyrus, Silas, Cyril- just Cy. So I understand!

I think of devo - Australian slang for devastated. But if you have never heard of that before, then the sound of Dev is cute, but it does feel like its short for something and I feel he will have to spend his whole life convincing people that, Dev really is his name.
