Do you think Elle could stand on it's own?

We had originally planned on Eleanor, but i've always found the nickname Elle oh-so lovelier. I just have some second thoughts on Eleanor sometimes.. I like old-fashioned names, but I don't know if Eleanor is too old-fashioned.

I think Elle can stand on its own, as long as your last name is more than one syllable because that would sound choppy.

I think Elle can stand on its own. Elisabeth/Elizabeth is another great well to get to Elle.

Elle is stunning! It is elegant, sophisticated, and beautiful. It has a modern fashionista feeling to it. Elle definitely works well on it's own! Eleanor is nice, but in my opinion it is a little bland/boring compared to Elle. I do love some old fashioned names that feel so vintage they are modern again. I think that's how some people feel about Eleanor, but it is too out dated for my taste.

I love the name Elle, but as someone else said, it has to go with a longer last name. Ultimately you should choose what you love the best, but if you really like a longer El- name that Elle can be derived from, you can always have that on the birth certificate and just call your little girl Elle.

Example: Elle Smith- Seems kind of short and choppy. Eleanor Smith, however, sounds very flowy and is lovely. You can still call her Elle, as well as her friends and family and whoever else.

If you have a longer last name, example: Elle Weatherbee, it sounds perfect just like that and Eleanor would make it a bit too long, IMHO.

I have to say it again, I really like the name Elle. I picture a beautiful, smart, charming, and very down to earth girl when I hear that name!

Eleanor is not a name I like- all I hear is "gnaw".
If you did want a longer name consider:

Elle can stand on it's own, Elle Fanning is a demonstration of that, as well as Elle McPhearson.

Eleanor isn't too old-fashioned imo, it's sweet and classic, and I normally don't like old-fashioned names!
Gemma and Elle is lovely, but so is Gemma and Eleanor, so it's really up to you.

Gemma and Elle is lovely, but so is Gemma and Eleanor, so it's really up to you.
Did you know Elle Fanning's full name is actually Mary Elle Fanning??

I definitely think Elle can stand on its own.
