    I found it!!!

I feel like I've been posting an inordinate amount lately, for which I'm sorry, lol, but I've just come across the perfect way to use Posy, and it's gotten me very excited. I've been playing around with dozens of ways to get there, but it's just hit me now and I can't believe I didn't think of it all along.

The name is Josefina. WDYT? I think it has a bit more spunk than Josephine (which was my problem with that all along--I think it's gorgeous, it just doesn't excite me enough as a FN), but much more usable than Primrose, imo.

Any combo ideas? I have two combos I've been tossing around and like quite a bit, but I want to hold off on sharing it because I'm not sure either one of them is the one.

    Thanks, ladies!

I prefer Josefina to Josephine! Would you prn it Ho-seh-fee-nah? Or with the J sound? I think Posy Belle would be a cute nn, but I know you've already got a Belle name in your list, or you could do Josefina Mirabelle or some other belle name. Posy Lou is cute. Josefina Eloise or Lucille? I don't know, just thinking aloud, so to speak.

How are you pronouncing it? Because to me that is a very Spanish name. Jo-seh-fee-nah or Ho-seh-fee-nah? I feel like it should be pronounced like the later, in which case I'm not a fan unless you have Spanish roots, but that is just my own prejudice of ethnically specific names remaining with people from the cultures they came from. For example, I love the names Saskia and Dimitri, but would never use them unless I married a Russian man seeing as I am not Russian myself. That being said, I don't know you, so maybe you are of Spanish descent

I also may be a little biased because I am in love with the name Josephine and it hurts my pride a little to see it called unexciting and not spunky, because I think it is both of thse thing, haha. But that is just me

I love Posey as a nickname for both Josefina and Josephine, though. It is so sweet

Though I prefer prim and lacy Josephine to Josefina, I still like your choice! It's a great way to get to Posy! You like two middle names, so here's some ideas:

    Josefina Imogen Hart
    Josefina Bellamy June
    Josefina May Louisa
    Josefina Juliet Elouise
    Josefina Annabel Kay

I'm interested to see what you end up going with!

I posted about Josephina the other day, and I love it! I do slightly prefer that spelling, but Josefina is definitely still beautiful!

I prefer Josephine personally, but I also tend to steer toward the versions of names that don't end in a. I also agree with PP - I don't get at all how you get Posy out of Josephine/Josefina/similar names.

Are you saying it with a "joe" sound because I instinctively prn Josefina with a "ho" sound so maybe Josephina would be a good option? Posy doesn't make a lot of sense to me as a nn with the Josefina spelling but I recently met a Josefina nn Fina which I think is nice.

    Thanks, ladies!

I have been saying it like Josephine-ah. Since I took Spanish for two years in college, I feel a bit of a traitor for saying it that way, but the "H" sound just doesn't sound right to me. Do you think that'd be okay, or would it be a problem? I first came across Josefina because of the American girl doll, so I've always said jo-se-fee-nah, but I don't want to disrespect the whole Hispanic culture. :/ I had considered the Josephina spelling (I had actually preferred it a while ago), but it just didn't seem right somehow. Part Josefina, part Josephine, but not quite as nice as either of them. Besides, if I said, "This is my daughter Josephina", do you think people would instinctively spell it with the "ph" or the "f"? I don't know, there's just something streamlined that I prefer about Josefina. The Spanish aspect was something I worried about, though, since I want a more English pronunciation and I don't have any Spanish blood in me.

As for Posy, lol, I don't know where it came from... I've just heard that it's recognized as an old nn for Josephine, so I figured it could work for a Josephine variant. I've heard of Carloses going by Charlie, so I would think a Josefina could go by Posy.

@ajbear - thanks for your suggestions! I think if I use Josefina, I would use Claire as the second MN, which honors family. I like the idea of a shorter "O" or "E" name in the middle--I've been tossing around Josefina Olive Claire and Josefina Elena Claire (too Spanish?) or Josefina Elise Claire. I'm not really set on anything yet, but I do really love Josefina Olive Claire. I'm not sure about Olivia and Olive both being on my top 10, though...

Firstly, I've still got my Josefina miniature doll!! (I had a major obsession with her...lol)

Yeah, I get what you mean about the whole, didn't seem right spelled Josephina. I definitely prefer Josefine and Josefina, the 'ph' is just too much for me, I guess.

I seriously don't know about the spelling thing. I mean, people ask me about spelling in my name, whether its 's' or 'z' or has an 'e' on the end. My name is spelled the average normal way right??

Personally, if "Posy" was your daughter Ashley, if I didn't know your name style, I'd would ask.

But yeah, I'd definitely spell it Josefina.

PROBLEM: I know Posy is name old nickname for Josephine/a, but is it a nickname for Josefine/a??

ARGH!! SO CONFUSING!! I don't know, but hoe would you get Posy out of JoseFine?? I know 'Jose' and 'Pose' rhyme, but could you still get it that way??

Just something MORE to think about, sorry. **thinking** Maybe I over-think things?? Arrr...

    Sorry to bother you...
