I think it really depends on what sort of area you live in. For instance, where I live it's mostly jerks in tapout shirts who ride dirt bikes who talk constantly about their Oakley sunglasses, but I don't think that's the case in most places. I actually really like Oakley, but would never use it because of the negative associations it has for me. It obviously doesn't have those sorts of associations for you which is great and I hope you get to use it. Yes, some people will probably say "like the sunglasses?" but honestly correcting them once will probably solve that.
I have completely random and eclectic taste in everything, including names.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the feedback. It's funny that so many of you thought Oakley sounds feminine, because that never even occurred to me. Helpful to hear others' perspectives! I still like it for a boy (not too worried, since there are a lot of boy names with -ley these days) and the sunglasses thing doesn't necessarily bother me too much, but I will have to ponder it a little. I hadn't even thought of Annie Oakley, but at least she's a positive historical figure and it's her last name, not first. Anyway, I so appreciate your help!

I know a much older gentleman named Oakley. He is absolutely adorable! And very soft spoken and sweet. I never thought of the sunglasses company or Annie Oakley....

The first thing I think of is Annie Oakley, but once I get past that, I think it's a pretty cute name. I think it sounds more masculine than feminine, too, but I could also see it being for a girl.

There's a town called Oakley near where my grandma lives, so that's my first thought. My second is oak trees. I've never heard of the sunglasses company.

I think of Oak trees. I've never heard of that company. Beyond that, it certainly isn't my style, but it is cute.

When I was 19 I thought for sure if I ever had a girl I would name her Oakley. I think Oakley sunglasses had just come out, or just getting popular, so that occasion wasn't a big deal. When I first got pregnant(3 yrs later) I brought it up with my husband and he didnt really care for it. We ended up having a boy anyways and Oakley just feels a bit more femme to me. I still really like the name Oakley, but now that the sunglasses company is so big, it kept me away from considering for our second child. If you love the name though it shouldn't let a popular company with the same name spoil it for you. Like someone else said it's more of a name than Porshe is.

I love Oakley. I've met a little boy named Oakley and loved it - his nn was Oakie, or Oaky, but I'd go with Oak - it's very strong and masculine I think. He could always go with Lee when he's older if he really didn't like it.
