Ease my mind?
Alright, so I'm nowhere near TTC, but a few days ago my guy, M, and I had a bit of an accident so I'm hoping the berries will be able to put my mind at ease.
Without going too much into the gritty details, my last period started on July 12th and ended on the 16th. On Friday (the 20th) we had sex unprotected twice. I was going to try to get the morning after pill, but due to an insane work schedule and having to share a car with my mother for part of the weekend, I wasn't able to and I'm now outside the 72 hour window to take it. I was doing some reading and found one website that said even if a woman is TTC and everything is timed perfectly, there is still only an 8% chance of pregnancy. I couldn't ever find anything else to back up that statistic though, so I'm just wondering what the chances are that I could get pregnant?
M and I have already had the 'what if' discussion, and he knows I would keep the baby and would support me in that decision if that were to happen. But at this point we're both crossing our fingers for me not to be pregnant, since it's my senior year of college this year and we live four hours apart. It's not that I would not want a baby (and I feel bad even asking about this here since so many people are actively TTC), it's just not good timing. I know it was stupid and irresponsible not to use protection, and I've never knowingly allowed that to happen before so please try not to judge me... my father and all three of my half-siblings have had a baby before 21 (I'm past that, so I beat the cycle!) so I'm usually extremely careful. I just wasn't thinking.
If anyone has any experience with this or any advice I would appreciate it. What do you think are the chances, and if there's a good chance, when should I take a test to be sure? TIAthe ever-changing favorites:

It's a possibility, you would have been on CD9 and depending on your cycle it could have been a fertile day. My DD2 was conceived on CD9 when we decided to wing it for just one night. My cycles are normally 32-35 days so I thought it would be fine, but I must have ovulated early that month.
At this point, it's too late to take the pill and still too early to test, so I would just try not to stress too much about it. You'll know soon enough either way.

It is of course a possibility that you could become pregnant, but...the average woman has a 28 day cycle, with day 1 being the first day of your period (July 12). The average time a woman ovulates is day 14, that would be July 26th for you. You had unprotected sex on the 20th, and yes, there's a window of time before and after ovulation that conception is most likely, but I think it's more like a 3 day window, and not 6 days.
I don't think you will have gotten pregnant. (Good Luck!)

Most women ovulate on cycle day 14. There is a very small possibility you might be pregnant, but I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. Sperm can only survive a maximum 5 days in the uterus, so unless you may be one of the few who ovulate very early... then its unlikely. How long are your cycles? If they are longer than 28 days I wouldn't be too concerned. I don't think you're pregnant, but go out and buy some condoms right now! Way cheaper than babies lol.Mommy to Ivory (the cat), Hudson (the bulldog mix), and LittleFoot aka Lilla (the lab x terrier).

How long is your cycle?
As someone who has been through four years for fertility treatments I'll give you the info I am aware of. First of all per cycle even when you are trying to conceive you only have at best about a 15% chance of it working. In a 28 day cycle women generally ovulate between the 11th day and the 17th day of the cycle. It is possible for sperm to live in the body for up to 3 days. If you have a 28 day cycle there is a VERY small chance you could have conceived but almost no existant. You had sex on day 8 by day 11 any sperm left in your body would die that day and you would have to be an early ovulater which most women aren not to ovulate on day 11. Honestly I wouldn't even worry about it (though I know you still will!). If however you have a shorter cycle it is possible. Good luck to you.Girls: Isla, Frances, Anouk, Astrid, Milena, Freya
