Mostly if I prefer a different spelling it's legitimate (Juliette over Juliet; Elisabeth over Elizabeth; Emilie over Emily; Emilia over Amelia--and, well, those are just two different names, lol), but there are two I can think of off-hand that I do prefer a trendier spelling (or have in the past): Claira over Clara, and Hayley over Haley/Hailey (still don't know what the original is!). Now I prefer Clara to Claira, but I still like Hayley the best out of all the Haley spellings.Lise

I've never been bothered by creative spellings, really, unless it is really out there. If you want a y instead of an i or an an extra y, etc., I don't care, I still read the name right. But if it is really mixed up, then I think it is better to stick with a non creative spelling.
For example, I like the name Corinne, but also like it spelled Carynn. Because to me, I say "uh" instead of "or" so the a seems more clear to me than the o.
I also know someone named Lyndsi. This spelling doesn't really bother me at all. I can still easily tell what it is supposed to be. Just my opinions though!Mom to Cuyler Reese Holcomb and anxiously awaiting Avery Daniel Alexander in August 2013!
