    Krey8tiv Spellings

Eberyone complains about them but are there any you actually prefer to the original?

I prefer Aimee to Amy, Kaitlyn to Caitlin, Allisyn to Alison. Anyone else have some Krey8tiv spellings of names they like?

I don't mind Krey8tiv spellings as long as they are long established alternative ways to spelling the traditional spelling such as Ann or Anne; Cassandra or Kassandra; Catherine, Katherine, Cathryn, or Kathryn etc.

However, I really dislike it when people take a traditional name and completely change the original spelling such as Benjamin to Bynjymyn; Ashley to Acsh'Leigh or in general any spelling that makes the parent look like they either can't spell or are trying way too hard to be unique. The name will be pronounced the same anyway so Benjamin and Bynjymyn will still be Benjamin A. and Bynjymn C. in class, but Benjamin A. won't have to spell out his name every time.

Aimee isn't creative, it's the proper French spelling.
I prefer Averie to Avery on a girl, but I've found that Averie is a french version. So I don't know if that counts as krey8tiv.

I also prefer Lynsey to Lindsay, Emmaleigh to Emily, Chelsey to Chelsea.

I've always prefered Rachael to Rachel. I don't know why because the spelling is counterintuitive, but I've always loves it. For several names I prefer a legit but less common spelling:

    Elisabeth
    Nichole
    Emilie
    Emilia
    Alison
    Madeleine
    Annabel

I'm okay with most creative spellings as long as it still looks nice and doesn't look like it should be pronounced differently from the original.

    I prefer:
    Kristina/Kristyna to Christina
    Kaitlyn to Caitlin
    Hayley to Hailey
Lynsey to Lindsay and other variants

Mostly if I prefer a different spelling it's legitimate (Juliette over Juliet; Elisabeth over Elizabeth; Emilie over Emily; Emilia over Amelia--and, well, those are just two different names, lol), but there are two I can think of off-hand that I do prefer a trendier spelling (or have in the past): Claira over Clara, and Hayley over Haley/Hailey (still don't know what the original is!). Now I prefer Clara to Claira, but I still like Hayley the best out of all the Haley spellings.

I've never been bothered by creative spellings, really, unless it is really out there. If you want a y instead of an i or an an extra y, etc., I don't care, I still read the name right. But if it is really mixed up, then I think it is better to stick with a non creative spelling.

For example, I like the name Corinne, but also like it spelled Carynn. Because to me, I say "uh" instead of "or" so the a seems more clear to me than the o.
I also know someone named Lyndsi. This spelling doesn't really bother me at all. I can still easily tell what it is supposed to be. Just my opinions though!

I also prefer Aimee but as for Avery/Averie, Averie is not French.
