Think we have a name, but *facepalm* maybe not!

DH and I talked names (finally, with two weeks to go!) and Camilla came out at the top....but then of course I started doubting it 3 ways.
First is pronunciation: cam-me-lah or cam-mill-a or ? We are in northwest America now, but DH is Jamaican so his version of names is often different than "everyone else"...usually much prettier.

Second, if it's Cam-me-lah, is that too rhyme-y with Aliyah?

Third, Camilla Cambell M_____ would honor both grandmas and I heart Cambell as a name, but is it ridiculous with Camilla?

I would instinctively prn Camila as Ca - mee - la adn Camilla as Ca mill a because of Spanish influence on the Camila spelling and English spelling rules.

Camilla prn Ca mee la and Aliyah are similar in vowels but different enough in other vowel sounds that I think it's OK.

Camilla Campbell - I kind of like it! I think it mixes up the repetition a little more if it's prn Ca-mee-la, but I don't think it's bad as Ca-mill-a. Middles aren't used that often and if you're picking it for family reasons, not the sound, then you've got a good story to tell if she ever cares or asks. You can aslo nickname her CC if you like it, which is cute.

Camille gets you further from Aliyah, although maybe closer to Campbell? Although it's still not totally the same - the stress is on different syllable. Could be Ca MILL or Ca MEE(l) - I've heard both. The latter from more Francophone types and the former from more English-speaking-using-a-French-name.

Camelia also breaks up the distance to Campbell more. Sounds about as close to Aliyah as Ca-mee-la does. Is more intuitively prn with the mee sound, I think.

    Good luck!

I agree with the pp. I pronounce Camila as Ca-me-la and Camilla as Ca-mil-a. I love the name btw, and I think Campbell is a great mn. This is one case where the alliteration works and I get a very classy vibe from it. good luck!

I love Camilla Campbell! I love the alliteration here. I agree with @jesba--Camila is cah-MEE-lah for me, while Camilla (two "L"s) is cah-MILL-ah. I prefer cah-MILL-ah, personally.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like a dope for not realizing it could be Camila. and the missing p in Campbell was just a typo. Anyway, the input really helps...now just to decide which way we like it better and see if DH sticks with it and doesn't change his mind...especially when he remembers Camille is my mom's middle name (and I like that version the best probably but it sounds very bland with our short and boring last name).
