it sounds too, well, stark to me. kind of harsh-sounding, kind of stiff and plain...not sure the best way to describe my reaction to it. i also know it as a surname, which adds to my sense of it not working as a FN.

I agree that it sounds harsh, maybe because one definition of stark is harsh! I don't care for word names generally.
Current favorites:
Girls: Louisa Jane, Caroline Emma, Celia Rose, Lucy Adelaide/Beatrice
Boys: Henry, Nathaniel/Nathan, Avi, Elias, Asher
Name-obsessed twenty-something in the US. No kids right now, but will be TTC in a few years...it's fun to think of the possibilities in the meantime!
