Do you think the alliteration is too much?
I'm not pregnant right now (although, I deeply, deeply wish...ttc has been a long and exhausting journey that has yet to succeed) but I fill my trying time with name love.
Right now I really love the name Penelope Pearl I think it sounds gorgeous together and for Penelope I love the nn's Penny and Poppy--ESPECIALLY Poppy and I'm not usually much on nn's. I even think Poppy Pearl would sounds really cute together but I wondered if the repeating pe sound at the beginning of both Penelope and Pearl is too much or is it still acceptable?Last edited by thelifespark; July 16th, 2012 at 05:49 PM.

My last name begins with an I. It is Hungarian and sounds kind of like is smart...I used to get that all the time in Junior High and I hated it. In hindsight being teased for being smart isn't the worst thing in the world.

There are certain names that can stand alliteration, but I don't think P is one of them. P has such a noticeable sound, so it's very easy to detect when it is used in alliteration. Penelope Pearl does seem a bit too heavy on the P's. Still, I don't think it's a "bad" combo, and if you really love it, you should use it. However, I would stick to just Penny or just Poppy as a nickname. Penny Pearl / Poppy Pearl sound a little too sing-songy, to me.

I think the length and rhythm is okay, but Penelope just isn't a name that lends itself to alliteration. It's already very quirky and has internal alliteration, plus Pearl is a noun, so Penelope Pearl kind of sounds like a cartoon to me. Like Olive Oyl, Daisy Duck, and Penelope Pearl would all have lunch together.
