I just said this combo aloud to DH and he said exactly what you were afraid of "a gust of wind". : (

I really like the combo but I could see it being an issue. Love Augusta!

I live in Augusta, Georgia and our local hockey team was almost named "Augusta Wind". It's a pretty combo you've come up with... I, personally, wouldn't use it. I may be extra sensitive to the teasing potential, though.
    Best wishes!

I also did the DH test with this name. He noticed it RIGHT away and laughed. Sorry.

My youngest daughter's name is Claire Auguste, Auguste was her great grandmother's name. I love the name and am glad you want to use it! I think Caroline Augusta would be lovely, but I also agree with you that a name that sounds like ' a gust of wind' is not necessarily a bad thing, my sister knew a girl in college named Jenna Toll (genital). All to say - if you love it, go for it.

I really like Augusta Winn, and I also think of golf (you won at Augusta). Beside "a gust of wind" isn't bad

    You could use Augustina

    My thoughts exactly.

Thank you guys for your help and input! It seems like the opinions are pretty mixed! I don't know. I am still thinking about it but it always comes back to this issue. Sigh. Does it make a difference that our last name isn't actually spelled Winn but just sounds like it? It is actually spelled N*g*u*y*3*n. It is Vietnamese. Does this change anyone's opinion?

Not really and I find it funny your afraid to share it since it's the most common Vietnamese surname, lol! I only know 3 Vietnamese people, none related, and they all have that surname. It's so common that a lot people know how to say it and it will still sound like Winn....

I love the name Augusta and Augusta Caroline is even prettier. I think people's opinions are mixed because it's really borderline with your last name. I think it does help because seeing your name written out, the joke is not immediately obvious. And even when you get the "joke," which can take a while if someone isn't prompting you, it's not a bad one ala Ima Hogg.

To me, if you were choosing between Augusta and a similarly beautiful and distinguished name like maybe Antonia (in my opinion), I'd say go for Antonia. But if Augusta is the name you truly love above all others, I don't think the combination is obvious or negative enough to rule Augusta out.

Thank you Pam for that helpful answer! There are other names we both really love but maybe not as perfect as Augusta. I do LOVE Antonia too though, I had forgotten about that name! Although I have heard it pronounced AN-toe-NEE-ah and an-TONE-e-ah. Not sure which is the correct pronunciation.
