New crush - can this nn work?

I've really been crushing on Jocelyn lately, but I have a few questions about it. What's your general impression of the name? How does it fit in with Isabelle, Arianne, Olivia, Violet, Rachel, Liliana, Charlotte, Eleanor, Hannah, Eleni, Eve, Serena, etc.? It seems different in a few ways from my other favorites, but I like Jocelyn enough that I might overlook it.

Secondly, nicknames. Since Josie is a fairly common (or at least well-loved if not well-used) nn for Jocelyn, could Posy/Posey potentially work as a NN for Jocelyn? Especially with a "P" MN, like Jocelyn Portia or Jocelyn Pearl? If Josephine could get the nn Posy, it doesn't seem terribly far-off for Jocelyn... I was just wondering how usable it really was. I've been thinking of possibly Jocelyn Emilia Pearl for a combo, or Jocelyn Portia Kate, nn Joss or Posy. Emilia, Kate, and Pearl are family names.

    Thanks, ladies!

Posey could absolutely work! That's actually my very favourite Jocelyn nn. And Jocelyn goes really well with Isabelle, Arianne and Eleanor.

Thanks! It kind of seems really unlikely, like the sound of Posy isn't in Jocelyn at all, but with a "P" MN I think it could work more.

Jocelyn does feel a bit trendy to me (a la the -lyn ending), and maybe a bit dated, and I'm a bit worried about it since I've vowed off ALL unisex names as FNs, and technically, Jocelyn is unisex, but it just seems so girly to me and with a sweet nn like Posy, I don't think I'd be as concerned. Besides, there's something very classic and regal about Jocelyn, which is part of the appeal to me.

Does anyone have any combo ideas? I'm a bit stumped with Jocelyn. I'm not really set on Jocelyn Portia Kate or Jocelyn Emilia Pearl, either. I had thought maybe Jocelyn Serena, as Serena's a name I'm really loving but I can't really imagine having a daughter with that name at all...

I'm sorry, I just think of my great-uncle Jocelyn with it!

I see the girly side, but I can't get past the man I know with it.

Posy is a cute idea, a bit of a stretch imo, but if you put a P middle, it can work I think. I agree with the trendy feeling due to the -lyn, I'm so turned off of -lyn endings now from hearing them so much!

Personally, I like the idea of Jocelyn as a middle name a bit more, Serena Jocelyn would be lovely.

I think Posey isn't an obvious nn but it could work. I think Joss is cute and Jocelyn Portia Kate is really nice.

The namevis different in style from the rest of your list...I think it's an awesome name but -lyn endings aren't very fashionable right now while the rest of your list is. I think it's a great addition and compliments the list!

I don't think nn's have to make sense or even be related to one's name. I think Posey would work in this case because Josie Posey is pretty adorable.

I love Jocelyn! It's a favorite that's not going to get used. I think it fits in nicely with the other names on your list. It's classic, and romantic sounding, and beautiful. Josie works fine as a nn IMO.

Ha. Thanks. Josie's actually what I'm trying to avoid, though. I don't really like it at all, and I already know a little girl named Josephine nn Josie, so I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. I love Posy, and Joss, and even Jossie/Josci/Jocey (not sure how you would spell it--JOSS-ee).

I am a bit worried about the trendy -lyn ending, as a few have mentioned, but since Gwendolyn holds onto her class, I thought Jocelyn might be able to, too. She's ranked since the 1920s, so she almost seems sort of classic, which is what I love about it. I'm still tossing it around, and I do have several names to nix for my girls' list, anyway, so we'll see if Jocelyn sticks. I'd love to hear more thoughts! And possibly more combo ideas.

I really like Jocelyn, nn's Joss or Jossie. I actually really like the name Josie, but never would have thought of it as a nn for Jocelyn - so thanks for the idea! Personally I think Posey is a bit of a stretch, but it is cute, and nn's are often a stretch but they still seem to work. I do agree that with a P middle name, it's a little more of a logical nn. Posey just seems like a cute little pet name that you could really use with any name, even if it doesn't sound similar.

My cousin has a Jocelyn Grace nn Jossie (not sure if that is how they spell it, but that would be my first guess). I think it is a very elegant, wearable name and a cute nickname. I do love the idea of Posey as a nn for it, though. I am a fan of Posey for Josephine and I don't see why you couldn't use it for Jocelyn as well. I love Jocelyn Portia Kate, out of your ideas. It has a really great feel to it.
