    A young independent girl

Hi there! I need help naming a character.

She is young and very independent, and clever and very stubborn. She prefers to keep to herself, but she does have sharp social skills. Although she is usually very chipper on the outside, she is deeply sad on the inside. At heart, she feels very lonely, but she would never let anyone know. She is very loving and generous with most people, but when it comes to it, she is afraid of true intimacy. She is extremely sensitive and hates feeling vulnerable. She has some spontaneous moments, and many wild fantasies, but in all, she is usually levelheaded and rational. She is quite the intellectual as well and gravitates towards art and culture. She is very hard on herself, rarely satisfied with anything. She is very girly and cares more about her appearance than she knows she should. She is always very put-together and prim and polite but never pretentious. She lives alone in a rickety little apartment in a big city.

My only criterion with her name is that I don't want it to be very long à la Wilhelmina.

I have a few names in mind as of now, but I'd like to hear what you guys have in mind first.

    Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I think a lot of them could work, but my favorites for her are Lily and Willa. I was also considering Calla and Wilda. What do you think?

I loooove Calla. My only issue with Wilda is the pronunciation. I wouldn't know, as a reader, if you mean for it to be WILL-da or WILD-uh.

I loooove Calla. I'm not too fond of Wilda, to be honest.

caroline11278, you pointed out my reservations about Wilda.

So I'm between Lily, Willa, and Calla. I'm leaning towards Lily. Thoughts?

I like Lily the best. I've always thought Willa sounds sort of incomplete, and Calla is just okay.
