    Any love for Ardith/Ardyth?

I see Arden mentioned on this board, but not Ardith or Ardyth. Thoughts?

And do you prefer the Ardith or Ardyth spelling? This is a case in which I prefer the y - I think it looks better because the i gets a bit lost next to the t and the vertical line at the right of the d.

I actually do like Ardith quite a bit. I definitely prefer it to Edith, which feels very grandma to me.

I've never heard it before though. Seems like it never got popular enough to be associated with it's decades.

I like it. I think it's much fresher than Edith and I like that Ari or Ardi could be a nickname! I like it better with the I because the Y makes it looks a little trendy to me.

I like Ardith-- I like Edith and Lilth more, but Ardith more than Judith. It seems to have a puritan/pilgrim feel like Arden and Judith too (and I like this about it).

I love it! I also like Ardeth as a spelling. Of your two, and in general, I think I prefer Ardith.

For some reason I hadn't seen the Ardeth variation, which also takes care of the problem I have with the i.

I also didn't know it meant "flowering field" in Hebrew. I thought it was an English name meaning good war. It's cool that it has a dual origin and is (somewhat of) a nature name too!

I agree that Ardyth/Ardith/Ardeth feels fresher than Edith, or possibly Arden (just because names with -n endings, if not necessarily Arden itself, have been huge lately).

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Ardith! Have had it on my list for years! Not personally a fan of the 'Ardyth' spelling personally, to me it seems a bit kre8ive, but I do not know the history of the name or if it is a legitimate spelling. I just know that I love the sound and meaning. On trend with names like Edith and Eden and Arden, so it would be a fresh alterntive and less a common option. Oh, this name makes me swoon....

I saw Ardith for what was perhaps the first time in Nameberry's recent "Secret Garden" blog, about names that have nature meanings but aren't as obvious as Lily or Oak. And I loved it, which is unusual since it's a girl's name. I often fall hard for boys' names, but not girls'. I think Ardith is my favorite spelling.
The one issue I have with this name is that my dad and I are artists. When you say the name Ardith, it sounds a little like a lisping child trying to say "artist." That probably isn't a problem for you or for most people considering the name. It might make it a slightly problematic choice for me.
But it's a beautiful name! Best wishes.

Ardith would be an excellent compromise for one parent who likes modern (Arden) and one parent who likes vintage (Edith). Ardith isn't a name I would use myself, but it is lovely and worthy of use.
