anyone out there considering Charlotte without planning to use a nickname?

i like Charlotte but not the nicknames. A lot of times on here when I see it as a choice it has intended nickname listed next to it. I am wondering if there is anyone out there that is considering Charlotte for their daughter but not planning on using a nickname?

My best friend is, and they are only going to call her Charlotte. I know two Charlottes who have never used nicknames.

The only Charlotte's I've ever known who used a nickname were older (50s and up). I've never known one my age (thirties) or younger who went by anything other than Charlotte.

Have a Charlotte in my class this year and had a Charlotte a few years ago - never heard either of them called anything but Charlotte. And, that is here in Oz, a place renowned for shortening anything/everything possible! : )

My little cousin is a Charlotte. She doesn't go by a nickname. She's not a Charlie at all! On occasion she gets called Char but it's not an official nn or anything.

Me . I absolutely love the name Charlotte, so feminine & elegant, and don't plan to ruin all its charm by calling my little one Lottie or Charlie.

I LOVE the name Charlotte and am considering it very heavily. I hate the nn Charlie as it sounds masculine to me. I don't mind Lottie- but have never known a Charlotte nn Lottie. I like the nn Sharli. Truthfully I would only use Charlotte when introducing her, and any nn would be a verbal family endearment- not the type written on her school work (Eg Lucinda nn Lucy but called Lucy 90% of the time)- more like "Come on Sharli". Definately wouldn't say Char as a nn. The Charlotte I know has only ever been Charlotte- I think this is because Charlotte (while looking like a long name) is actually only 2 syllables.
Charlotte is wonderful with Sofia, especially Charlotte Amelia.

If I ever did use Charlotte, I probably wouldn't use a nn. Maybe Char occasionally (just like I get called Jen sometimes, though I don't go by it). If she chose to go by Charlie, that would be her choice, but it's not my preference. It's a two syllable name, so I don't think it needs a nn!

The only Charlotte I know though did go by Charlie. Not sure if she still does, I haven't seen her since high school. Her little sister was Francesca and went by Frankie. My mom asked if her brother then had a feminine nn, but no - his name is Scott, haha.

My 3-year old niece is Charlotte and although we tried to nn her Lottie, I don't think her parents (or the rest of us) were very consistent in using it. So now if we even try something like "hi Lottie Lou" she immediately says "no, I Charlotte!"
