Well, the great thing about midwifery care is that they spend so much time with you. Some of our appointments were an hour and a half of just talking to our midwife! The biggest thing that I can recommend is that you write things down and bring the list to your appointment, helps speed things along, and will let your DH get a chance to get his questions answered even when he couldn't make it to the appointment.

I also would say that my midwife was a wealth of knowledge about natural remedies for every kind of complaint. I would call or text her when I got a bad cold or if I was running a fever, and she always had great advice about natural interventions that really did help. It helped that I had one person to ask everything about instead of googling "migraine remedy during third trimester" or whatever and getting 5 jillion pieces of conflicting advice.

Also, I highly, highly recommend ongoing chiropractic care during anyone's pregnancy after the second trimester, its a really safe and natural way to keep more comfortable. Chiro's are also really helpful resources for the aches and pains and sleepless nights at the end of your first pregnancy.

    Hows everything going ladies?

I'm feeling sick as a dog again, these meds aren't helping anymore. Luckily I've got some time off & some home study time over the next 7 weeks so no early mornings or being on my feet for 12 hours for a while! Am about 9 weeks now (how time flys) & waiting for a consultant apppintment to sort out my genetic tests. Can have the test from 10 weeks so hoping to see the consultant next week to arrange it.

I know just how you felt vintagemoon. Hope you feel better soon.
Everythings fine over here thanks apart from the fact I have a major headache day and night. It's even worse that I'm breastfeeding and Isobel is very restless so I only seem to get 3 hours sleep. She's asleep at the moment so I've finally got 5 minutes peace.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Looks like I'm further ahead than most of you. I'm due November 17th...although judging by my track record this little girl will probably be born closer to Thanksgiving.

Nice to see a lot of you wanting to do HB's. I've always done hospitals but it's mainly because I'm more comfortable there. (as odd as that is) Home would bother me more. lol But this time I'm finally switching to a MW as I much more prefer them to OB's.

THis is baby #4 for me.

I'm 14 weeks! I can't believe how quickly it has gone. I'm still feeling pretty nauseous alot of the time, but it is getting better. I am not as tired as I was a few weeks ago. Hope you all start to feel better soon. I rest/lay down for an hour or two each day and I am eating a high protein diet. Trying to have another propblem free twin pregnancy. I had two very difficult singleton pregnancies and I don't know if it is the changes I made with the twins or just luck/fate, but I had a very easy pregnancy with them. So I'm just repeating everything I did then again...just in case. lol

Norseberry - I had my first set of twins at home. If you want to chat, you can PM me. What did your midwife say about it? Does she deliver in hospitals? Alot of midwifes just have admitting priviledges, they don't see patients there. That's cool that she visits your home. She brings an ultrasound too? Neat. I had other risk factors so I was unable to find a midwife that would officially take me on as their client at first. I was more comfortable seeing a high risk OB because I do have pregnancy issues...birth is GREAT for me... I just stink during pregnancy! So we paid out of pocket to see the midwife and continue establishing a relationship/care with her. Then at 34 weeks, my OB gave me the blessing...both girls were head down and everything else was great. The midwife took over for good (as I said, I saw them in tandem, but it was something we could do financially at the time) and I had the homebirth with her in attendance. She is not practicing anymore and there is another factor added to the mix so I seriously doubt I am going to be able to find a midwife to attend this birth at home. We're not sure what we're going to do.

I'm pretty confused on the dates though. I am with tina. Something is off. And cowgirl's explanation doesn't really help. Counting 37 weeks from a positive HPT is odd because that assumes you tested when you were 3 weeks pregnant (roughly 7 days past ovulation) and that's very early for most HPTs to detect...EVEN with twins. I don't know anyone that got a positive earlier than 8-9 days after ovulation. Also, if cowgirl is saying her 7/4 to 3/20 was 37 weeks on the dot --- then your 6/12 (22 days before her 7/4) can equate to your 3/1 (19 days before her 3/20) doesn't make sense. If she tested positve at 3 weeks (7dpo) then that means you tested positive at 2w4d pregnant (4 dpo).

I don't know what's going on with these dates... I am going to have to ask her. I either misheard or she calculated wrong. Next appt is in 4 weeks. We have to wait and see if we can do the HB because both their heads need to be down. My midwife has lots of ideas how to keep their heads down and such, so we will see.
