We also have a Cora- Cora Josephine in our case as Josephine is my mother's middle name. It's a great name and we love it, as does everyone we meet! I have considered many of the same names and you are and have really similar criteria- not too frilly but still feminine, vintage-y, etc. I don't know that I have anything new to post here, names-wise that hasn't already been suggested, but I was going to say that we are also experiencing the same feeling regarding choosing a name. Love at first sight with both our boy and girl options last time.... but everything seems so second-choice-y now. I think part of it is feeling like it needs to fit next to Cora, as there were names in all kinds of styles/lengths/eras that I could see as possibilities before, but now I want a more cohesive feel... but not matchy-matchy or rhyming or starting with C or really even ending with -a... I think a second girl name is going to have to sort of sneak up on us. Currently considering Nell/e Catherine or possibly Tess/a _______ but not sure if either one has the same "timeless" quality that we got with our first. Anyway, just wanted to say you are not alone in feeling like it's so much harder this time around! Anyway, good luck to you and congratulations!

I am 90% sure that I'll be naming my little girl due in November Cora (just waiting for DH's final stamp of approval) so we probably have similar tastes! A few names that stick out that would go great with Cora are:

    Olive
Rose - absolutely love this. I think Rosie is a great nickname but even if you plan to call her that 100% of the time, I would still give her the formal name Rose so that she has some options when she's older. I also adore Rosalind, which has a great literary history and is a moon of Uranus, which I love.
Thea - I think Cora and Thea sound great together and Thea has Greek history like Cora, is very simple but I think would still get you that "you named her what?" look?

I think all the names on your list are lovely -- good luck!

Cora is lovely! I read that you chose Cora five years ago and want something that has wow factor, so I am trying to come up with some names that nobody has mentioned already... I will try not to repeat any.
    Felicity
    Dorothea - nn Thea?
Estelle/Estella - nn Essie or if you prefer, Stella, but Stella is more popular
Edina, Edwina (Ed-win-ah not Ed-wee-na) or Edith, if you like - Edie
    Sylvie
    Audra
    Dahlia
    Marigold
    Verena, Verity or Vera
Nova or Novalea? (hubby's niece's name)
Nola - could be a nn for Magnolia if you're adventurous
    Vintage middles:
    Jean
    Faye
    Gail
    Louise
    Elise/Elyse
    Irene
Adele (would make a nice fn, as well, but might become popular due to the singer with same name)
    Florence
    Agnes
    Lorraine
    Evangeline (nice fn choice too)

It's great isn't it? It's the short form of Temperance but often stands alone because of the place name (in Florida, I think). As a virtue name I think it's a fresh alternative to Hope or Faith

Tempe, Arizona actually. It's actually my Grandma's name, and in her case it's not short for Temperance.
