Ha I'm a speech therapist too. My problem right now is all the negative associations I have formed over the years with many boys names. I have historically worked with severely impaired students with behavior difficulties. Now I see more typical students but the damage has been done. I really like Leo. It's out for us since one of my teachers just used it for her son, but I don't think it's too popular.

I haven't noticed any Leo's ... I know ONE who graduates high school next year, but other than that, really haven't seen the name except on here.

I love the name Leo, It so sweet for a little boy, and still works well for a grown man. I wouldnt worry about it!! I pick my boys names without even checking the ranks and i happened to choose the two most popular ones nowadays Jacob & Liam! go figure! I still love their names and dont regret having choosing them...
Btw, I know a Leo (2ys old) but he lives in Sweeden! He is the cutesst little boy!

I think Leo is a great choice!! I would have pushed to use it for one of our twins, but we have a close cousin who had just used it for her son. As many of the previous posters have said, I don't think you'll find it too popular, but if you want to check the popularity in your state (if you are American) you can go to baby name wizard, and look up Leo. They should have a map with a breakdown of state popularity.
    Good luck!

I'm hemming and hawing over two names that are getting very popular as well, so I know what you mean. But I'm starting to realize that if you like the name, you should go with it. I understand not wanting to be in the top 10 but Leo seems far from being there so I say go for it. I've only met two little Leos.

Thanks everyone! Your feedback makes me feel better about using Leo. It is a great name, and I do think I would regret not using it even if it did start getting more popular. Fingers crossed no new teeny-bopper novels starring a vampire named Leo get published....
