I'm pretty neutral on Garrison (I'm really just a G name snob..lol). I really wouldn't want him to be called Gary either. Maybe Sonny as a nn? Are you using Garrison to honor your dad? I have a nephew named Nicholas (he's a junior) that has been called Nicholas almost exclusively since birth..however, he started kindergarten last year and definitely writes his name as Nick instead of Nicholas. He said.."it's so much easier" lol.

I'm not a fan of Garrison as a name. I just think of it as a military term for a body of soldiers stationed in a particular place.

I think of the military. A garrison is a fort/camp. I'd think you were a military family or the NRA "it's my right to bare arms" type. But if you told me he's named after a Gary, I'd think "how sweet". Not my style but it's cute for a little boy and will age well
I wouldn't intuitively shorten Garrison. If you don't shorten it others won't either

Thanks everyone! It would be in honor of my father, but I'm still not sure.
