i love Emerson for a boy, it's very masculine. No name "needs" a nn and I don't see why some people get so hung up on nicknames anyway. I like Emerson with a strong, short middle name like Thomas.

I don't like it for a girl, because of the -son ending. But it's very nice for a boy. How about Emerson Everest?

Emerson is a family name for me, but only for males (so far). I know a male Emmett who goes by Em, and I really like Em for a male. Emerson is really nice for each gender, but I do really like it for a male.

I'm on the girl boat with this one too. It is too feminine to me now along with Addison, etc.

I think it is a great name for a boy. My grandfather's name is Emerson Eugene. I liked the suggestion of Emerson Blake. I personally don't like this name on a girl at all.

I like it! Very handsome! I don't think he has to have a nickname. I knew not one but three Katherines (various spellings) who only ever went by their fully name, and there are a ton of nicknames for that name!(just as an example of no nicknames)
Some people just don't do nicknames. Plus as a boy,it's more likely his friends would use his surname as a nickname. I went to school with a lot of boys who were either referred to by their surname or by a variation of it.
