I think Islie is like 'Isla' - which is one of my favourites. It's gorgeous

My cousin is called Eilidh and for the first few years of her life, she thought her name was 'Eilidh-e-i-l-i-d-h', but absolutely loves it now she's older
I think it's beautiful in the original spelling as well as 'Islie' - like island and leigh mixed together

When people decide to be 'creative', they don't stray *that* far from phonetic pronunciations. Eilidh, pronounced phonetically, wouldn't even sound like 'Aylee'. That would be like someone deciding to spell Emily 'Emilidh'.
I'm just saying: you're only one person. Your statement was about 'an American environment', and I think that's an over-generalization.
