Do you like your siblings name better than yours?

Talking about sibsets and unfair sets and matchy sets got me thinking about my own sibling.

Her name is Jamie and mine is Kimberly (Kim).

I'm not crazy about my own name but I prefer it to hers. I'm not wild that it's a boys name in most of the world and there are more spellings that are common.

What about you? Do you like your name better than your siblings?
If you don't have siblings what about your parents? Do you like their names better than your aunts and uncles?

I like my dad's name better than any of my uncles, though one of my aunt's has a really pretty name.
My mom and her siblings all have horrible names in my opinion and I don't really like any of them.

Sort of-- for different reasons. My name is Claire, which means "clear and bright", and I like the meaning but somehow the name itself feels alien to me and not fitting me at all. My sister's is Marielle, which is very cool and somewhat artistic- sounding, but it means "bitter", which is the third worst meaning of a name next to Cameron, "crooked nose", and Lilith, "ghost, night monster".

Claire definitely gives me an image of a very specific kind of person. Gentle and soft-spoken and wispy.

I've never even thought about comparing the meanings, but that could be because my name basically means nothing. Kimberly was just some Lord in England and the name of his land and then became the name of a city. Maybe it's a blessing to not have to worry about meaning.

Jamie means "supplanter" which....yea, not super significant.

Marielle is very pretty, though on sound alone I prefer Claire.

Kind of. I'm Grace, I have two sisters, Hannah and Rachel. I feel that my name and Rachel's are very bland and lack personality. I'm not sure why, I just find them to be very standard and boring. I think Hannah is sweet and girly without being too frilly. So I guess I like Hannah's best out of us three.

My brothers are called Daniel and Michael. I think Michael is bland, but Daniel is great. They both go by Danny and Mikey almost exclusively so I guess its kind of a null point anyway.

Grace, Early 20's and Bride-to-Be...Dreaming of Future Babies.

Lucy Primrose, Alice Juliette, Rose Charlotte, Madeline Sophie, Lillian Faye, Ivy Elena, Amélie Winter.
Mae Seraphina nn Maisy, Phoebe Luna, Annabella Violet, Kate Susannah.
Noah Samuel, Rory Joshua, Luca Gabriel, Isaac Beau, Louis Daniel, Henry Rowan, William Elliott, Roman Alexander.

I used to. My younger sister's name is Kaylee and foryears I was extremely jealous because she had more of a "cutesy" name and it seemed more unique than mine (Kristina). To me, my name sounded dated and too old for me which it still does. However now I realize that I got a better name because its a legitamite spelling of a classic name while Kaylee is a trendy smoosh name and doesnt age well, plus it will become dated eventually too. Personally, I think we are a terrible sibset but Im glad Im the Kristina out of the two.

I defiantly love my name more than my sister's. Mine has a funny story and derives from something my mom loved, Diamonds. My dad said no to Diamond and they went with Diana instead. My sister's name, Melissa, was just something they liked. There was no really cute story behind it.

I also began to love my name more when I discovered it was the name of Princess Diana and even more when I discovered the Goddess Diana. I love my name now and do not care for Melissa at all. I don't think my parents even noticed that connection between our names. Diana is roman and Melissa is greek, which makes kind of cute sibset.

I wouldn't say that Hannah has more personality than Grace or Rachel. Grace gets a lot of wear as a middle name, but that's because it's more widely loved than either of the others. Though of the 3, Hannah's the only one I've never known on someone personally. As for Daniel and Michael, I think they're both pretty standard and unexciting personally.

I knew dozens of Christina's (with various spellings) all through school so I got pretty tired of it, though I agree with you that Kaylee is too cutesy.

What a great story! And I never knew that Melissa was Greek. I definitely prefer Diana, not to mention the Anne of Green Gables connection.

I don't have a nice story for my name either, except that my mom was determined to use it despite the fact that my grandpa could pronounce it! Worked out okay though, turns out his mispronunciation sounded a lot like my future husbands name! lol, he was a prophet!

Unexciting was the word I was trying to think of to describe our names, it just didn't come to mind. You've summed it up perfectly. I mean, I'm glad we're not Kylie, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Zayden and Jayden but I think the names my parents chose were very "safe" choices. I'd love the opportunity to name 5 kids, I kinda feel like they wasted it, lol.

I think I'll always be a bit jealous of my sister's name. Mine is Maurilia, and it's long and serious. It's pretty, but it doesn't fit me at all. My little sister's is Ella, which is a bit cutesy for me, but would be a better fit than Maurilia. My brothers are Daryl and Evan, and I like Evan a lot more than Daryl.

I only have a brother. I am Stacy, and he is Lance. I don't really like either of our names! LOL I do like that my name stems from Anastasia, like the princess. I kind of wish my parents had named me that instead. I could go by Ana. ♥ My mom also had only a brother, and my dad only had a sister! LOL So, it is hard to compare.
