Please help to name an Asian friend
Hello, berries! An Asian friend of mine needs an English name, and it's quite a challenge for me as she's really odd.
She's geeky, shy and social awkwardness,in fact she has asperger syndrome.
She's about 20 but still looks like a teenager, skinny and a little short(compared with the Westerners),with short black hair and thick glasses.Sometimes it's hard to tell her gender.
She's a book worm and she's very intelligent. She's quiet and polite at most of the time, but when she starts talking about books and science she's just like a female Sheldon,or Spencer Reid from the TV show Criminal Minds(LOL).
Actually I'm thinking of Spencer (or Reed?) for that reason.Does it work for her?
She can also be described as artistic. Her mind is always so creative and interesting.
She wants a unisex name or a boy's name. And that's the challenge.I think I'm looking for some word name or boy's name that are classical but dated..Any suggestion?
Please help!
By the way,her last name is Liu.Last edited by ivanbliminse; June 28th, 2012 at 05:13 AM.

I think something literary would be a good way to go since she's a book worm.
Eliot - after George Eliot, a woman writer with a man's name.
Josephine "Jo" - after Jo March in Little Women.
Sam - After Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain
Christie - After Agatha Christie, could be shortened to the gender neutral 'Chris'.
Teagan - Irish unisex name that means little poet
I'm sure there's more, but that's all I have for now. I suggest asking her what her favorite books are and using the author's name, character's names, or even place names in the books for inspiration.http://geeknames.blogspot.com/
My favorites right now:
Girls: Alena, Anya, Emme, Fable, Gwyneth, Thalia, Thora, Vaiva
Boys: August, Bodhi, Blake, Declan, Eamon, Fergus, Finch, Rory

I would go with Andrea which is both a girl and boy's name and neither unisex.

Well, thank you but she prefer soft-sounding boy's name..
I think Quinn is nice, but she doesn't like it..Last edited by ivanbliminse; June 28th, 2012 at 11:06 AM.
