If you definitely want the nickname Ellie then my suggestions are:
    Elina Snow
    Eleni Snow
    Ellery Snow

Personally the name Luna Snow sprang immediately to mind. I think that it has a similar feel to Silver Snow but with it being so wordy. You might love the 'wordiness' of a name though so if that's the case then ignore me entirely. I also thought of:

    Juniper Snow
    April Snow
    Magnolia Snow
Dahlia Snow (this is similar to Tahlia, but is also the name of a flower- very pretty I think)
    Senna Snow (another flower name)
    Maple Snow

I tend to think nature when I hear Snow....

Y'all are on the right track, I see names we've discussed that have been vetoed! (Electra, Verity, Cordelia, Brenna, Bree, Catalina, Ellery, Dahlia) Keep them coming!

Any ideas on where to find some uncommon names from American History? I was thinking I might have some deep seated love for American History that i'm not aware of since Hale and India have a vague tie to it. Ha ha! I'm probably grasping at straws, but you never know.... lol

I must admit that I love Sylvie from your husband's list. One of my faves, but could never get my own DH onboard. I'm a sucker for French names that work in the US.

As for the Ellie nn, how about: Elodie, Eloise/Heloise/Elouise, Emmanuelle, Arielle, Murielle, Mirielle.

I really love Elodie & Emmanuelle (even Emmanuella)
