We have a close friend who has a son Thomas (Tommy), and he is so cute, so I absolutely love that name and you don't meet many these days. Peter is also an underused classic. I disagree totally that these are ho-hum names.
As far as your names go, I voted for Peter Thomas because I don't like Hawke and I agree that Thomas Hawke is a little too close to Tomahawk. But I would prefer Thomas Peter.
