Huge long list! Please help me narrow down my list!
I can't decide! I've been trying to narrow down my list for weeks and somehow it got longer!

Could you pick your top 7 from my list and order them from fav to least fav? Also, any comments are appreciated! Thank you!!
Also, just to put some character to the names -- our little girl is coming from a Greek and Italian heritage. She'll probably be short, between 5'0-5'5, and would most likely be health conscious, fit, and sporty (plays a lot of sports).
Here is my list:
Phoebe - so far my fav, but DH doesn't really like it. i've never watched it but he says it reminds him of 'friends'
Calista - i'm 100% greek, so this is a stand out name to me.
Eleni - another greek name i love, but it's popularity in the greek community (#1) kind of turns me off to it
Elena
Hazel
Bella
Lena
Emmeline - pronounced 'em-me-line' - i love emma and emily but wanted something not as popular
Anya - my mom's name is anne, so this would honor her. the simplicity of it turns me off a bit
Gwendolyn - on the fence with this mainly because i don't know how i feel about the nicknames 'gwen' and 'wendy'. i like wendy better though if i had to choose.
Adelaide - one of my favs. DH does not agree which is why it's further down the list. i think he doesn't like it because he is not familiar with it.
Isla - pronounced 'eye-lah'
Coralie
Daphne - this name keeps growing on me
Maeve - fell in love. just added this name yesterday
Elani - not sure if i like it, but it sounds greek and would be an alternative to eleni
Adeline
Adalyn - not sure which one I like better (this or the one above)
Violet
Ashlyn
Bethany - like how it has a biblical reference (city of Bethany) and is just pretty to me
Marina - SIL's name is Marni Karina. I LOVE this name.. but it kind of sounds like SIL's name
Melina - trying to think of an alternative to the name above
Anelise - couldn't take this off the list mostly because my mom's name is anne and it would honor her.
Madeleine - couldn't take this one off either, i just like it, esp the spelling!Favorite Girl Names of the Moment: Emmeline, Hazel, Eleni, Phoebe, Anya, Isla, Adelaide
Favorite Boy Names of the Moment: Noah, Leonidas, William, Henry, Carter, Elijah, Basil, Micah

1.) Phoebe - fits the image, and I always forget about the 'Friends' character, it's just a name I like
2.) Elena - pretty name, again, sounds to me that it fits Greek and Italian heritage (though the girl I know with the name is Spanish).
3.) Gwendolyn - I just think this is a gorgeous name.
4.) Lena - pretty name, fits the image too.
5.) Violet - another gorgeous name (one of my own favorites)
6.) Bethany - pretty name, the Bethany I knew growing up was tiny too, so I can see that fitting.
7.) Maeve - pretty name too, I think this name fits that image as well.Favorite girl names of the moment: Cecilia, Eleanor, Amelia, Violet, Charlotte, and Ramona
Favorite boy names of the moment: Henry, Micah, Jack, Elijah, Owen, and Jonah

1. Violet- probably one of my absolute favourite names.
2. Bethany- the history behind this is great and I love how feminine it is. Also love the nn Beth.
3. Bella- love its meaning and how it flows.
4. Daphne- I used to think this was old-fashioned but now I like the sound and spelling.
5. Phoebe- this one is really lovely and sweet.
6. Anelise- I prefer the Annelise spelling, but overall I really like the name.
7. Marina/Calista- because I like the name Carina.I'm Erin, a teenaged writer who loves names (and dessert).

Phoebe - Cute, Greek, classical, not hard to say.
Calista - Like it, feminine, classical.
Hazel - Okay, ladies, no one else put this on their list, its MINE. Seriously it seems like it just became "the thing" but it's a really nice name.
Lena - I love this, its very underused but gentle and vintage.
Maeve - A bit "suddenly, Irish!" on your list, but a really nice name.
Violet - No Iolanda/Ianthe/Iolanthe? Aw, and you have the way to get away with it! But Violet is nice too. I do love florals.
Madeleine - Probably the least exciting to still make it into the top seven, I feel like its become very popular. But it's cute and pretty and this is my favourite spelling.
If you like Bella and want to honor an Anne, I would go with Annabel/Annabelle, personally, over Anya. Anya sort of sticks out from the sort of names you seem to like as rather more streamlined if not austere, where as Annabel/Annabelle flows well with Madeleine, Phoebe, Violet, etc.
I happen to like Calixta and Calantha more than Callista but I have issues. Also by the time the third person says "Like Ally McBeal?" I'd wanna punch them out.
EDIT: Feeling ya on loving Eleni but it's just too popular. I have a name like that, too popular in my family/background but so pretty and a nice meaning, it's Ilana.Last edited by stripedsocks; June 23rd, 2012 at 04:45 PM.

1. Eleni - Fits the criteria
2. Adelaide - I just love the sound of this name. I think it'd be very fitting on a beautiful and noble woman. Plus there's the cute nicknames for when she's a little girl.
3. Coralie - I love this name. It's on my personal list.
4. Hazel - Spunky.
5. Lena - It's fitting for the future daughter you described.
6. Phoebe - Greek. Also, it's becoming more popular. Even people who watched Friends growing up are naming their daughters this without worrying about the Friends character. I think it's an alternative for Chloe.
7. Violet - I love this feminine name.

1. Elani -- just love the sound of this and fits the image (also sounds sort of multicultural, although I'm sure) --
2. Calista -- so pretty, plus honors your heritage
3. Phoebe -- adorable but sophisticated, fits image and heritage
4. Violet -- just love the name
5. Elena -- multicultural and pretty
6. Emmeline -- feels more British and antique than some of the others, but I love it and love nicknames Em/Emme/Milly
7. Gwendolen (I prefer this spelling) -- this used to feel really heavy to me, but lately I'm liking its blend of substance and flounce (plus I love the character in Eliot's Daniel Deronda)
