I adore Opal! Always reminds me of the little girl in "Because of Winn-Dixie" - her name was India Opal, and her father "The Preacher" called her Opal :3 It's also so perfect that you're an October baby!
I found a name just now when I was perusing an acting website - this girl's name is Asterope. It popped out at me for you because it starts with Aster, but doesn't end in 'a' and has a rather mystical feel to it, I think.~*sophie*~

I know I've already suggested it but I think Vespertine is a great fit for you! It has all the qualities you desire in a name. It is a word name and a floral name. Vespertine means a flower that blooms in the evening. It has a magical feel. Definitely not trendy. I doubt it's in the top 10,000.

I don't think Opal is popular at all! It hasn't charted since 1960! I think Opal is a winner because it isn't trendy and it has that rougher sound set that you are looking for. It also looks very pretty written out.
I think Opal Silverbell (maybe Opal Silverbelle?) is super pretty! I love the wintery image it gives me
