    Cool Nymbler Game :)

I just thought of a really fun game.
    1. Go to Nymbler.com
    2. Add your top 3 girls names and top 3 boys names as your inspirations
    3. Click find names once
    4. List all of the names that show up here and tell us what you think of them!

    Here are mine:

    My Favorites:
    Ivory
    Imari
Estelle (I can't use this because I have a cousin named Stella, so I was excited for an inspired alternative.)
    Everett
    Graham
Nixon (can't use, so again excited for an idea based this one)

    Recommendations:
Olivia -A cousin on each side of my family is named Olivia. Otherwise, I think it's adorable, but too overdone for me.
Violet - A friend is using this one. I love it.
    Grace - nms
Olive - Olive sounds a too bit masculine for me.
    Cordelia- I don't love it.
Lucy - Not a fan. For some reason it's a name that I can easily envision on tiny babies and on old women, but not any ages between.
Charlotte - Eh. I like Colette better (too bad it's already my niece's name).
June - Adorable, but probably not one I'd use.

Cecil - My dad used to call me Cecil occasionally, so this one's out for me.
    Benjamin - Don't like, I never have.
Emmett - I prefer my choice of Everett, but it is a nice name.
    Oliver - Love.
Reid - this one is actually on my short list.
Henry - Reallly dislike Henry, probably largely due to bad association.
Edmund - meh. I like it more than Edward, but I'm not liking it.

Iris, Miranda, Eloise, Marlowe, Roscoe, and Wallace.

Lucille – Of the Luc- long forms I prefer Lucinda. Lucille is lovely, but feels a little dated.
Violet – So pretty! Violet was in my top ten for a long time, but she’s been replaced in my affections by the quirkier, more mysterious Iris.
Amelia – Yawn. It’s cute, but I’ve known several.
Claire – Bad associations! I’ve known two women with this name who turned out to be insane (and that’s not hyperbole). Beautiful, but I wince whenever I hear it.
Charlotte – Again, yawn. I like it better than Amelia, but its popularity turns me off, as does the Sex and the City character.
Marina – A place where you dock boats.
Myles – I like Miles, but prefer Milo (can you tell I’ve got a thing for boys’ names that end in ‘o’?).
Owen – No opinion. I'd like it on someone else's baby, but personally I find it a bit bland.
Cornelius – I kind of love the ridiculous over-the-top quality, but all the nicknames are terrible (Corny? Neal?). I would never use it, but it certainly has the clunky-cool charm of another favorite: Ferdinand.
Rudy – I LOVE R-names for boys—Rupert, Rufus, Rory and Roscoe are all firm favorites. Rudy does still have an old man whiff to it, though.
Celeste – Sleek, elegant, but forever Babar’s wife to me, unfortunately.
Spencer – This is actually adorable, though I’m not sure how it would wear on a full-grown man.
Marcel – Too overtly French for me to use, but it’s got a great sound and I could see it rise as an attractive alternative to Marcus.
Diana – A beautiful old name associated, to me, with a deity and a children’s book author. I would use it in the middle spot.

When I "rolled" the Nymbler again, I got a lot luckier: Claudia, Beatrice, Gabriel, Jules, Antonia, Helena, Calvin, Leo...I love them all!

    My inspirations:
    Elliot
    Jasper
    Silas
    Rosalie
    Sophie
    Evangeline

    Boys:
William - My fourth favorite boys name. It's a versatile classic.
Barnard - Eh. It's nothing I'd use. Too close to barnyard. I like Barnabas better.
Leo - Love this. I like Leland and Leon a bit better, but I do love Leo.
Jack - Good solid classic. But since it's my uncle's name, I wouldn't use it.
Noah - I like it, but I'm oversaturated, having heard it so much.
Al - Just... Al? No thanks.
Marius - I love the idea of this as a middle name. It's handsome and dashing.

    Girls:
    Charlotte - Good, solid classic.
    Lena - Eh. It's okay.
Grace - Solid name, but I heard it SO much.
Eva - Well, I prefer the longer, more frou frou Evangeline. But it's a good name.
Isabelle - Another solid name. I hear this one so much, and it's a shame, because it's lovely.
Essie - Not a fan. I suppose it could be a cute nickname.
    Claudette - Not a fan.
Genevieve - It sound nice, but I have a negative association with the name.
    Elliot ~ Arlo ~ Silas ~ Deacon ~ Henry ~ Flynn ~ Adam ~ Samuel ~ Malachy ~ Jasper
    Evangeline ~ Sofia ~ Bryn ~ Vivienne ~ Rosalee ~ Willow ~ Phoebe ~ Persephone ~ Daphne ~ Coraline

    Inspirations:
    Audrey
    Serena
    Bridget
    Callum
    Elliott
    Everett

    Girls:
Lana - NMS. I don't like that this can be pronounced so many ways (I've heard lah-nah, lay-nah, la-na with an a like in apple..)
    Maeve - NMS. Too short.
Cara - It's ok but I prefer Cora.
    Juliet - Pretty.
Charlotte - This was on my list for a while (or is it still? haha). It's pretty, I just don't love it.
Abigail - I really like this but it's so popular.
    Grace - Too boring.
Ava - Too popular, especially in my area.

    Boys:
Brendan - Love this name! But a distant cousin has a Brenden.. we keep in contact quite a bit.
    Oliver - It's ok.
Henry - This name has grown on me so much! Still don't know if I love it enough to put it on my list.
    Owen - Like it.
Garrett - I do like this name but I really hate the potential nn Gary.
Duncan - I like it but this is a friend's last name so it might be odd.
William - Too plain for me.
    Top 10 girl's names: Serena * Audrey * Sienna * Bridget * Lucy * Hazel * Cordelia * Josephine * Claire * Alice
    Top 10 boy's names: Elliott * Callum * Theodore * Emmett * Nolan * Ian * Blake * Brennan * Adrian * Everett

    Inspirations:
    Anne
    Astrid
    Eleanor
    Duncan
    Franklin
    Walter

    Girls:
Lucy - A little too cutesy for me. I greatly prefer Lucinda.
    Caroline - Stately, but boring.
    Violet - Pretty.
Alberta - Albert with an 'a' tacked on the end... definitely not my style. On the other hand, at least it's unusual. I would prefer Roberta.
Ida - All right, but not substantial enough for me.
Amelia - I've never cared for the sound of this name. Makes me think of the word "mealy."
Charlotte - I really like this name; it's appealing and dignified.
Elizabeth - Like Caroline: stately, but boring. On the other hand, it does have a lot of awesome nicknames.

    Boys:
Arthur - Meh. I like the historical connotations, but the name itself is a bit dated and just ok. The potential nickname "Art" is not my taste.
Russell - I don't like it at all. It has a dated, gawky, country feeling.
Benjamin - Very nice, though a bit common.
Norman - I like a good Germanic name, but Norman is still in old-man territory for me. The nickname "Norm" is not appealing.
Leonard - Yuck. Leo, Leon and Leonardo all sound better to me.
Gilbert - Pretty ugly. The only selling point is the "Anne of Green Gables" association.
Henry - Very nice, and I'm glad it's enjoying a resurgence.

I would consider Henry, Benjamin, Charlotte and maybe Elizabeth. Most of the boys' names, in particular, are NOT my style. On the other hand, I would consider all these names to be fine on someone else's kid.
