    Help with Girls Names, Please!!

    Hi there everyone,

I'm new to posting on Nameberry, but I have been obsessively searching for baby girl names and I just can't seem to come up with anyone that feels right. Please help me, you are all so creative and I know you will be the one's that help me come to a decision. I am 27 weeks pregnant, due in September, and we don't know what we are having.

Our first daughter's full name is Ella Grace. I love it...I love the sound of "Ella Grace" together and love how Ella is simple and beautiful. I knew it was popular (but not until after I had already fallen in love with it) and thought that I was fine with it, but I never factored in how many similar names to Ella there are (Ellie, Bella, Stella, Isabella, etc.) I'm still in love with her name but am trying to be very careful not to have another super popular name again. Plus I've decided that if there are any other Ella's in her class, I'll just get the teacher to call her "Ella Grace."

If we have a boy, we've decided on Asher James or Asher Mathew James (Mathew and James are family names.) Asher has been a favourite of mine for years and my husband really likes it as well. I'm a little sad about how popular it is becoming but I love it so much that I am willing to risk it.

As for girl names, I will list off a few that I really like but many are either already used by friends/family or possible too popular, or that I'm just not sure of, to help you get ideas for my style (if I even have one...lol): Charlotte, Freya, Amaya, Leighton, Avery, Emily, Lily, Sophie, Audrey, Abigail, Elizabeth. My husband really, really likes Leighton (Leightyn?)....I'm not too sure, I'm personally not a fan of Peyton and I'm worried that it is too similar. I love Ella and Sophie together but our good friend and neighbours daughter's name is Sophia. I love Freya but my husband doesn't, plus we know someone that chose that name (that's how I first heard of it.)

I'd love any help I can get, with both first and middle names for another girl in our family! Oh and our last name is two syllables.

Thanks so much! Hope you have enough to work with!!!

@Mischa - thanks for pointing out how you feel about the use of a unisex name with a more girly name...something to consider for sure!
@jojocastles - maybe I have to keep working on Freya. It's so pretty and unique in NA (although I think it's quite popular in the UK) and it does sound great with Ella.

What I think I like about Ella and Sophie is the "ie" part of Sophie....

@babynamer2012 - I really like Kate Elizabeth....definitely have that on my list but is it too "the year of Kate Middleton??"
and my grandmother's sister's name is Audrey, so it's one that we also have high on the list

Still not finding that any girls names give me that "That's the one!!!" feeling.....this is so hard!!

I agree with the comment about Ella Grace needing a similar sort of name to go with it. On your list, I like Charlotte, Emily, or Elizabeth. Sophie also sounds good with Ella, but I can understand your concern with that one.
    Ruby
    Lucy
    Caroline
    Clara
    Lena
    Lana
    Hazel

I have a little Asher, and we've gotten nothing but compliments on his name. After we named him, I saw that it was getting more popular, and I was concerned that all of a sudden there would be little Ashers everywhere. In the 2 1/2 years since we named him, we haven't met another little Asher, so I wouldn't worry too much about its popularity.

    Good luck!!

Sophie does sound great with Ella, but it is also super popular. I love the suggestions of Caroline and Amelia.

I too love Caroline and Amelia. Other suggestions I think are fantastic are Bonnie and Tessa. What about Annabelle, Susanna, Rose or Anne-Sophie? Just some thoughts! Your daughters name is gorgeous! Good luck.

My husband likes Amelia, I'm not sure about it.....Saraallison, We have two brand new Annabelles in our family! Isn't that amazing!?! But it is very pretty! I think maybe my problem is that we just know too many people who have had baby girls recently, it seems like every name that I like has been used!

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions and comments! I really appreciate it. I am feeling discouraged as nothing seems to be apealing to me....maybe that's a sign it's a boy? I don't know, it feels very similar to the first pregnancy... please keep them coming!

    Lauren
