I like May/Mae nn Maisie best. My next favourite would be Margaret. I think it has enough substance to work on its own, though.

Lucy Primrose, Alice Juliette, Rose Charlotte, Madeline Sophie, Lillian Faye, Ivy Elena, Amélie Winter.
Mae Seraphina nn Maisy, Phoebe Luna, Annabella Violet, Kate Susannah.

Maisie is one of those really tough nickname names that seems a bit insubstantial on its own, but doesn't logically follow from its long forms. I don't think it's common knowledge that Maisie is a nickname for Margaret, but on its own Maisie seems really cutesy and childish to me. I'd go with Margaret- if she outgrows Maisie, she can be Maggie, Marlo, Mara, Mags, Daisy, Greta, etc. I think Mairead would have a lot of pronunciations problems.

I am in the same dilemma... want Maisie if baby is a girl but am not crazy about Margaret. Maybe just Mae? Also could use Mariel I am thinking...?
