I think Meela would be the only way to get the mee sound since Myla can lead to My (as in myself)+luh

@saracita00 and kyemsma- Thank you! Part of me feels a lot of guilt that this bothers me so much (even though it really, really does), so thanks for the understanding =).

@rollo - I love a lot of your suggestions! We talked about Elisa for a while. Maybe it's time to revisit that one. Love Ava, but my friend is planning on using that for her daughter who will be here any time now. Caroline is my sister's name, and I hadn't thought of using it as a mn, but I like it as one. I really like Lucinda. I'll have to suggest that one, too. Annabelle is a fav of mine. I've loved it ever since we read "Annabelle Lee" in school. Anne is a family name that doesn't sound good with our one-syllable last name, so Annabelle might be a good mn choice, too. Chloe was on our final list, but, even though we don't know a single Chloe, we worried about the popularity, but I don't know that I care about that as much any more. I grew up with a very common name, and it's never bothered me. Anneliese is another fav of mine. I've brought it up about 10 times, but my husband just won't go for it.

I mis-read a previous post. I thought they were going for My-luh. For MEE-Luh I would spell it Meela or Meelah, maybe?

I agree with previous posters about changing just the spelling to Meela/Meelah. That way it is more likely to be pronounced correctly and it's still the name you love.

I want to thank everyone for their opinions and suggestions. I'm going to close this thread. Hopefully I'll get more great feedback when we figure out a new short list. Thanks again!
