My cousin just named her second son Apollo and I think it is a really interesting name. It definitely fits your criteria and I would love to meet a little Apollo. My only criticism is that it is a lot for a little guy to live up to (but I have this issue with lots of god or word names so its a personal thing). As for a mn, Apollo James does sound nice, but something about Apollo Grey strikes me as particularly nice and a bit less expected. Good luck with your decision!

I think it's a pretty cool name. I like the suggestion of Apollo James for two reasons....1.) James' classicness balances the uniqueness of Apollo 2) If Apollo is too much for him to live up to he has a polethera of nn's from James to fall back on..or he could go by AJ.
Other suggestions:
Apollo Jude
Apollo Cade (could use initials AC to get nn Ace)
Apollo Henry
Apollo Robert
Apollo Sebastian
Apollo Thomas (I like this a lot)
Apollo Vincent
Apollo Zachary
