    WDYT of Danäe?

I think it's a pretty name, a substitute for Danielle or Daniella. It's a mythological name and I was wondering what everyone thought of it. It's pronounced dah-NAY. Thanks!

I think it's alright; but it doesn't feel like a full name to me. I prefer Danielle or Danica.

Danae's on my list too! I like that it's of Greek origin because my name is also Greek. But I'm not certain I like the myth that's attached to Danae. I blame Zeus.

In spite of that, I think it's neat that Danae is supposedly the great-great grandmother of Hercules. The sound of "dah-NAY" appeals to me.

    I love the name Danae.
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane... all middle names honor family... 3rd generation mn Jane. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve and a third boy, maybe Isaac...)

Can you explain the diaeresis on the letter 'a'? Or is it an umlaut?
in some countries the last 'a' and 'e' are pronounced separately and a diaeresis is placed on the second vowel to indicate this, so that would make it Danaë (similar to Chloë). But you pronounce it as one vowel 'AY', so a diaeresis confuses me...

    i do like the name!

    I like it.

Accents can be a pain though...so I think you have to be sure that youre okay with it being written with or without (as it almost certainly will be) or are prepared and willing to be very militant about it!
