Short girly name to hyphenate with Miles for a girl??
Miles is a family name and we are considering using it for a boy or girl...
If we have a girl we were thinking of hyphenating it with a short, very feminine name... Does anyone have any suggestions?
I like Miles-Claire Rose (our surname starts with H and ends with N)... But are very open to thoughts/suggestions as long as Miles is at the front...
I guess the reason I am so keen to use it as a girls name is because the member of the family we are naming her after was Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin and it was her choice to go by the name Miles Franklin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Franklin
I'm against Sarah and Maria because I went to school with loads of them and as for Stella, we have a close relative who is living named Stella who we don't get along with very well... So that has left us with Miles and Franklin... I do like the name Millie but there is one already in the family so it's also out...Last edited by falph; June 17th, 2012 at 02:00 AM. Are you only planning on having one child? Some people don't think ahead when they give a daughter a masculine name. If they later have a son then they're scrambling to find a name that's masculine enough. Just something to consider
I think putting Miles in the second spot would give you more options. Miles isn't an easy name to hyphenate, Miles-Marie is nice but I can only think of masculine second names. Miles-Drew or Miles-Dru are nice but not feminine

I'm not a fan of it as a girl's name either. I think if you plan on having more children you should save it or move it to the middle name spot.
Otherwise Milla would be a good compromise. Our Cats:
