Pippa Margo...is this an issue?!
Ok, so I love the names Pippa and Margo, and Margo has meaning to me, so I randomly put them together and LOVE it! However I typed it into Google to see if anything came up and there were a ton of articles about how Pippa Middleton's pilates teacher (or something like that) is named Margot. Is this an issue?! I'm sure I'm way overthinking this...but it's still definitely something I think about about!
Also, I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this combo. Not sure if I'd use the spelling Margo or Margot, but I'm leaning towards Margo, and I'm not a fan of any other spellings.

No I wouldn't even worry about it, its a beautiful name!! If there was a porn start with the same name or a historical figure of course, but that is a very long chain to be worried about, I'm sure no one will make the connection, certainly without researching it!
Its very pretty!!

I like it and don't think that's an issue. I agree on the Margo spelling. As a kid, when I read Diary of Anne Frank, every time I read her sister Margot's name,I thought Mar-got, with the t sound at the end. Haha. I learned the right way to print but still to this day, every time see it I think Mar-got.

Haha, I over-analyze the same way googling names...I dont think you have anything to worry about though!
If it was something like Pippa Kate where people would immediately be like "Yeah, you really like those Middletons..." I'd be concerned. This, no one knows her pilates teachers name and soon enough she'll probably have a brand new teacher anyway.
Pippa Margo is adorable. I slightly prefer the Margot spelling, just looks complete to me, but both versions are lovely.

I don't think it's an issue at all. I prefer the Margot spelling.

Hmm....not sure about this. Margot is definitely French (T's are silent on the ends of French words). While I was in Switzerland, it was really obvious that anyone in the area of France-Switzerland-Germany kind of used combos of both languages. So, for example, it wouldn't be hard to find a Gretchen in eastern France or an Isabelle in Eastern Germany. There is a lot of intermingling between the languages there. I find it difficult to believe that anyone pronounces Margot Mar-got. They might not honor the accept over the o, but I wouldn't think they'd just completely ignore the original pronunciation. I could be wrong though!

Well if you talk to someone who doesn't know French, like me, I see Margot and say Mar-gott, while Margo is more obvious to me as being mar-go
I think it's fine, it's such an obscure reference, I doubt anyone will know unless they are stalking Pippa. Pippa's real name is also Phillipa.
EDIT:
Also in every language, a name has different pn, it doesn't make it wrong, it's just the language.Last edited by catloverd; June 16th, 2012 at 03:56 PM.
