Anna Ana Anne
My name is Anna, My mother-in-law Ana, and my grandmother is Anne--
I would love to incorporate the tradition of Anna into a baby name but am just not sure how I'd like to do it!! I love the name Nina and have heard it as a nickname for Anna. I like the idea of Anna ____ with Nina as the nn.
and if not- what suggestions do you have to freshen up Anna.

There are various variants to the name Anna/Ana/Anne:
Anya / Anja
Anika / Annika
Annette
Annalie
Hanna(h)
There's a list of Ann Variants on nameberry here: http://nameberry.com/list/5/Anns-Int...nal-Variations
I like the idea of Nina as a nn, but you can also just use Nina. I think it's close enough.2O - Aries - Slytherin - Daycare Assistant Teacher

My recommendation is Ann's original Hebrew form, Hannah.

I have never heard of an Anna having the nickname Nina, but I do know 1 Anna, 1 Ana, and 1 Nina.
Nameberry says "Russian, diminutive of Antonina" I can see Nina being a nn for Antonina, but not Anna... Anna and Antonina are different.
I think you should just use Nina on it's own, Anna is short enough, it doesn't need a nickname.... if anything An/Anne would be the short form....Our Cats:

My name is Anna, and I've never heard of Nina as a nn?! I would just think if you liked the name Nina, then name the baby, Nina. As far as using Anna, Ana or Anne; I like Annabelle, Annabella, Annabeth, Julianna, Maryanna, Annelise, etc. And you can change any of these by using one N or adding an E
Good Luck!
I'm not sure about you, but growing up I didn't like my name, but now I love it!
