Not a fan of Mattie, it's too common for me. If I had a Hattie and Lottie, I would name my 3rd whatever I wanted to! I'm not concerned by that at all since I am planning on having 4 or 5 kids.

I think that they are too close. I agree with pps on the idea to use full names with nicknames. I much prefer Lottie over Hattie if they were to be used as names themselves.

If Charlotte is too popular for you, what about Carlotta "Lottie"?
The only other name I can think of that can get the nickname "Hattie" is Henriette/Henrietta, but even then, that might be a stretch.

I think they are okay for sisters because although they end in -ttie they sound different enough. Especially if they are nicknames for Charlotte and Harriet or Henrietta.
I think Hattie and Lottie are both cute. I slightly prefer Lottie. Personally I wouldn't use them as full names - but I really like Charlotte, and not crazy about Harriet or Henrietta.

Personally I love the name Charlotte & I plan on using it, despite its rank on the baby name charts. I'd use Henrietta instead of Harriet & Hattie can be a nn for that. But I agree the full names are best because they need a name that matures with them--Henrietta, Charlotte and a future girl could be

    Tabitha nn Tabbie
    Mathilda nn Mattie
    Penelope nn Nellie

Hattie and Lottie are fine for sisters. Very sweet as given names or nicknames.

Yes, they may be too close and some people could get confused but it would be a sweet connection. I like Lottie better and like Lettie even more.

What about Tilly and hattie. I think Harriet and Matilda sound so cute together.
