Thread: New crush...

I like Gabriel...I don't LOVE it. But I do think it fits right in with your other names, I'm actually surprised that it hasn't been on your list. I think the reason I don't LOVE it is because I don't like the nn Gabe very much.

ETA: I forgot to say...I think Gabriel and Grayson are very similar though. I like Gabriel better than Grayson...and I think Gabriel goes better with the other boy names. I noticed that on your signature Asher doesn't have a two mn combo....suggesting..Asher Grayson Patrick...or Asher Patrick Grayson.

    I love.....

Gabriel and Spencer (Gabe and Spence sound great together)

I think the following MN combos would be nice:

    Gabriel Oliver
    Gabriel Ethan
    Gabriel Matthew
    Gabriel Anthony
    Gabriel Everett

lol. Well, when I first joined my first name site (which was PC), Gabriel Evan was at the tippy top of my list. Gabriel Evan and Josiah Christopher were probably tied for my top two names. And then for some reason, I went off of it, and completely hated it for a few years, and then I liked it quite a bit as a MN, but now I'm back to liking it a lot as a FN. I think it goes really well with my girls' names, like Isabelle and Olivia especially. Even Violet, Rachel, Arianne, Charlotte, Liliana, etc.

As for Grayson and Asher--lol, yes, I still do need a second MN for Asher. I'm not even sure it'll be Asher Patrick anymore, although I still do love it. I have a running two-page document in Word, trying to find the perfect combo, and while I like a lot of them, none of them seem to be "it". :/ Hence, just Asher Patrick for now, lol. I don't think I would do Asher Grayson Patrick/Asher Patrick Grayson, though, as my surname is also two syllables and it sounds so bad to me. Grayson is fairly set as a FN because I love its surnamey vibe and my grandmother's mn is Grace, so I like that it'd honor her pretty obviously.

Thanks for all the ideas, ladies! I'm not sure Gabriel will make his way onto my short list yet, but I do quite love him right now. Out of the combos you've suggested, I think Gabriel Oliver, Gabriel Noah, Gabriel Atticus, and Gabriel Conrad, although I'm not sure I love any of them yet.

ADORE it. I have a Gabriel myself, and we've successfully called him just that, only perfect strangers attempt calling him Gabe, because I don't like that nn either. He was Little G when he was small, and now just G, if anyone insists on a nn. I get a kick out of Noah as a mn or sib suggestion, since I also have one of those, but even more because they are the same person. Noah is supposed to have been the angel Gabriel but in his earthly form. It didn't even hit us until after we had named them both.
If only I could make a living naming other people's children...

I like Gabriel too and I like the nickname Gabe (although I can't stand Gabby for Gabriella). Evan actually makes a great middle name. Gabriel and Caleb sound too close to be brothers with the same "a" sound. Gabriel and Everett just seem too different. Gabriel and Asher sound great together! Gabriel and Jack aren't a "perfect match" but I don't think they sound awful together (Jack just seems to "work" with a lot of names) Gabriel and Grayson could work. Brody is too trendy for Gabriel. Spencer sounds good with Gabriel. Bailey and Avery just don't sound right. And Boone is way different as for style. All great names, but as for sibsets I'd say Gabriel goes best with Asher and Spencer, then Jack and Grayson.

I had a crush on the name Gabriel too (a few months back). It sounds wonderful. It's a very fine, handsome, and underused name! If we had another son, I would have strongly considered using Gabriel EXCEPT, it's a no-go for us since its too similar to our son Daniel's name.
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane... all middle names honor family... 3rd generation mn Jane. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve and a third boy, maybe Isaac...)
