Alexander--lots of good nn potential, but pretty popular
Dominic--nice name but I don't think it complements Agatha
Edward--my least favorite
Evan--kinda blah
Gabriel--I like it
Henry--I love this name. It's on my list too!
Lawrence--not a fan of this one
Patrick--adorable, cute with Agatha
Rory--cute but sounds like a nn
Solomon--kinda cool, but it doesn't seem to blend with Agatha
Theodore--love this one!
Theodore I think is the cutest option with Agatha.

Thanks Lori, a three syllable name is our preference. I can see where you're coming from with those suggestions but they aren't really my style, sorry. I know Agatha is Greek in origin (from agate = good) but I think of it more as an old English country house type name a la Aunt Agatha in the P.G. Wodehouse stories. :-)
kateinlouvain I do kwym about Solomon and I think that is what puts my husband off. Thanks for your thoughts on Alexander too, I totally agree ere all the Alex names, I still really like Alexander though, I can't help it! Patrick is lovely isn't it, though I don't like the nn Pat, I guess we could use Paddy as a nn instead...

Alexander- love Alexander Austin but you may not want to get stuck in an A.A. theme
Dominic- nice with Agatha
Edward- feels dull
Evan- feels young, not formal enough to go with Agatha
Gabriel- don't like with Agatha
Henry - nice
Lawrence- depends on what your last name sounds like
Patrick- never cared for this name
Rory- same as Evan
Solomon- nice
Theodore- nice
I like
1. Theodore
2. Alexander
3. Solomon
4. Henry

Thanks Kitty! It seems like Henry and Theodore are the most liked at the moment. I added Theodore almost as an afterthought but all the enthusiasm in here has got us seriously considering it!
Nat - Evan is my husband's favorite and I although I do like it (and its Welsh heritage) I expressed the same reservations as you about it being young and fresh while Agatha is old-fashioned and quirky. I think it might work better as a middle name - Agatha has a Welsh mn so it would be a nice link.Last edited by titch; June 16th, 2012 at 08:30 AM.

Alexander- I wouldn't use another A name, especially since his middle name will be Austin. That means you would probably have to name your next baby with initials A.A.
Dominic- Not really the same style as Agatha.
Edward- Love! Would go great with Agatha.
Evan- Too modern sounding with Agatha
Gabriel- It could work
Henry- Perfect with Agatha! Love!
Lawrence- I have a Lawrence's convenience store around here and that's all I can think of.
Patrick- Cute, but just doesn't sound right with Agatha.
Rory- I would love to meet a Rory! Goes well with Agatha
Solomon- LOVE!
Theodore- Would go perfect with Agatha!
Henry and Theodore are my favorites! Two Little Girls Due Feb 23rd

I absolutely adore all your names aside form Soloman (which makes m e thing of Lord of the Rings) and Rory (I love it as a nn, but not as a name in itself, it could be a nick name for Lawrence)
My 3 favorites are;
Lawrence - Laurie, Larry, Rory,
Alexander - Alex, Sandy, Xander
Theodore - Theo
They all go really well with Agatha and could have some really cute nick names!!My Favorite Names
Verity, Geneva, Martha, Anya, Amelie, Esther
James Kennedy, Roman Thomas, Lucas Henry

I actually like all of these names except Solomon.
If you are looking for something that is the best fit with Agatha, I'd say Edward, Henry, or Theodore. Perhaps Lawrence as well.
Alexander - love
Dominic - love
Edward - liking this these days.
Evan - love I don't think I'd use Austin as a mn with it. I agree it sounds young with Agatha. Not that it's a new name - maybe because of its current popularity in the US, and also I know or have heard of more young men with this name than older men.
Gabriel - like
Henry - like
Lawrence - like - might or might not sound well with a 1-syllable ln beginning with L.
Patrick - like
Rory - like I don't like Austin as a mn with this (although I do love the name Austin)
Solomon - don't really like much
Theodore - like.Last edited by ksheja; June 16th, 2012 at 04:14 PM.
