Maya or ?? Help with Indian-American names

So we are having a baby girl soon, already have one daughter - Mira. I want to name the 2nd one Maya but my husband thinks it is too cutesy to have a mira and maya and he wants a longer name for the new baby. The baby will be half Indian so I would like something Indian but that is easy to pronounce but also not too common. I am more into pretty sounds than meanings of names. Any ideas?? Today we thought maybe Kareena/Carina but I am not sure I love it. Thanks!

I definitely agree that Mira and Mya are too similar. I like Carina, and also Corina. I don't know any Indian-American names off the top of my head, but good luck!

Amaya might be a nice compromise.

    Soraya
    Lalita
    Sitara
    Riya
    Nisha

I think these all translate well into English.

Tanaya could be a nice compromise. It means "daughter" or "child of mine" and rhymes with Maya.

    Other suggestions:
    Aditi
    Aishwarya
    Shalini
    Safia
    Ramani
    Sunayana
    Ananda
    Latika
    Lalita
    Parvati
    Sarala
    Jasminder
    Nivedhini

Maya and Mira are DEFINITELY too close, but not even due to cutesyness -- imagine how many times you'll misspeak with those! "Mira! Agh, I mean Maya!"

Here's a list of feminine Indian names:
    http://www.behindthename.com/php/bro...e[]=indian

    My favorites:

    Aditi
Arya (which has been growing in popularity due to Game of Thrones)
    Avani
    Devi / Devika
    Esha
    Indira
Kala, Kamala (though this has a Battlestar Galactica association you may want to check on if you're interested)
---- I think Kamala has some good nickname possibilities, including a stretch to Maya if you really want it
    Madhuri
    Malati
    Nalini
    Nitya
Pallavi (this is one of my personal favorites)
    Parvati
    Priya
    Sarala
    Sati
    Shanti
    Sitara

Thank you all - I like a lot of these but some have been already rejected by my husband (Jaya, Arya, etc), but i will pass these on!

What does hubby mean by "long"? Just longer than Mira? Although I think my name- Tara- is wonderful (when pronounced properly) it may be too short. There's Tarala, Tarani, and Tarika, the nn could be Tara.
I'm not Indian but since name is, I have an Indian-inspired baby name list (that's why I love Lotus)
    Aaliya
    Kemaya
    Chanda/Chandra
    Mohana
    Zahra
    Ashima
    Sonali
    Malaya
    Salima
    Jameela
Lakhi- love this name because I'm not brave enough to name my kid Lucky
    Ayesha
    Fatima

    Shea * Ashley * Jade * Azure * Shiah * Greer * Blaise * Pallas
    Lotus * Tallulah * Noor * Fox * Jasper * Linden * Arden * Adair
