I Need Berries Opinion Please...
Hi Berries,
Hopefully, in the near future, I will be starting the process of adoption. If given a name already, I would consider incorporating the name their heart mom have blessed them with.
However, I was wondering if you can tell me what do you think about the names: Liliana Rajani for a girl and Tobiah Ravi for a boy. My last name is 3-syllables long and starts with a 'W'. Do you think these names flow well with their middle name and a possible future sibset? Considering I would not be able to choose the gender of my baby if I was carrying them myself, I would like to have at least one name of each gender just in case.
I am interested in all kinds of name, yet, I would like inputs on elegant and sophisticated sounding first names with a hint of exotic for a middle names.
Insight: My grandmother has 5 children + 2 angel babies who middle name all start with D. My mom has three girls who middle name start with L. I would like to keep up with that little tradition, but I am open to other connections, such as mythology, exotic, origin, etc.
Other names that I have considered, but are moving down my list are: Girls-- Chloe Sage and Cadence Aurora ~ Boys-- Chandler Phoenix and Courtland Arion. It would have been Orion, but his initials would have been C.O.W.
I originally thought about the name Tobias, but I guess after looking at it to long I kept seeing To bias, I am not too fund of unique spellings since that has been played out with my six nieces, yet Tobiah is the closest to what I like. I am still looking for more boy name options. I am just stomped right now.
I apologize if my post is all over the place, its my first time posting a new thread and I am just to get all my ideas out in one go. If you have other ideas/comments, please feel free to let me know.
Thank you for your patience and input. I am looking forward to reading what you have to say (type).

Liliana sounds really pretty, although a bit frilly. It also sounds Latino to me. Other ideas: Lily, Lucia
Tobiah may have to keep telling everyone, "No, it's not Tobias, it's Tobiah." Other than that, it's nice. And sounds biblical. Similiar names would be Isaiah and Micah.
Rajani sounds Indian. Ravi again sounds Indian. If you want to give that impression, go ahead.Proud author of Kissimmee, Orlando, Mary, Adam, Mississippi, Micah, Georgette, Evelyn, and so many many more

Thanks for responding jame1881. I thought Liliana sounded Latino as well, but I have read previous Liliana feeds and some have suggested it is not that heavy. Yes, Rajani and Ravi are Indian-based names. I just love the flow of it and the meaning of each. I also had that thought about Tobiah, I have been second guessing it for awhile, and was hoping for more input from Berries. I already have a Isaiah in my family, and at one point Micah was on my list. Recently, I fell in awe of the nickname Toby/Tobi, but not necessarily the other alternates that may get be there like Tobin.
Can anyone else help with this feed. I don't pinch. Pinky promise!

Lilianna is very frilly but I know about a dozen of them so I see the appeal. You might consider Lila which is Indian and means playful as well as being Arabic for night. Rajani might sound better with a fn that sounds closer in ethnicity. Others would be Lucianna, Oceana, Arabella, Noelle, Annabelle,Natalia, Tatiana, Victoria, Sophia, Georgiana, Alessandra, Alessia, Serena, Serafina, Francesca, and even India. Chloe and Cadence are cute but seem trendy and overused. Their mns are great though.
Tobiah Ravi sounds mismatched to me since Tobiah sounds very biblical and Ravi is very Indian. Maybe find a less Indian sounding Indian name, like Kartik?
Or a more exotic sounding boys name like Leonardo (Leo), Elijah, Asa, Jeremiah, Nathaniel, Caleb, and Jonah. I think you could get away with Theodore nn Toby. If you like Toby do you like the name Colby with the full name Colton? Toby works fine on its own but not with the mn Ravi
Middle name suggestions:
boys: Amar, Vijay, Deo, Hari, Jai/Jay, Kalyan, Pranay, Raj, Ram, Prem, Chander, Kama, Yash- all Indian with pretty good meanings
girls- Devi, Veda, Pavarti, Asha, Arya, Ila, Kaur (means princess), Lakshmi, Maya, Lina- again all Indian meanings all good.
I would suggest looking at Arabic or Latin names for exotic names, or maybe even Japanese? Good luck!Violet Gray

GIRLS: Georgiana Rose, Josephine Ruby, Kate Evangeline, Eliza Rose, Anna Caroline
BOYS: Jack Henry, Oliver James, Leo Alexander, Finn Michael, Samuel Reid

I'm so excited to see another prospective adoptive mommy on here! I'm looking toward that in a few years, too.

I really love both of your choices--Liliana and Tobiah both have spunk and sweetness, and I think they work really well together. I like the combos, as well. I also love the suggestion of Tobin, I think Liliana and Tobin work together even better!
With Liliana and Tobiah/Tobin, I would think something a bit Hebrew (like Ezra, Ezekiel, Jonah, Jude/Judah, Isaiah, etc.) for boys, and something very sweet, a bit frilly, and very in-style for girls (all I can think of is my own favorites here, lol, mainly because I think they fit so well with Liliana! Isabelle, Violet, Ariana/Arianne/Arielle, Eleanor, Eve, Serena, Sophie, etc. are my thoughts...).
Good luck!Ashley

Thanks for the help so far Berries. I was really excited to read your ideas. Honestly, I am not completely set up on these names, yet, they are still the top for me. Maybe I should also state that I have no connection to Indian ancestry, I just adore diverse and cultural names with a twist of classic, sophistication/elegance. Not necessarily leaning toward biblical names. If I find a certain appeal, I do not mind weighing my options. I have seen so many great names, I just thought Berries can help me narrow things now to help me get on the right track toward names I love.
@violetgray: I have a soft-spot for Colton. I love the name but it will work against my last name. I loved the fact that Co-was the first two initials of my first name; Le: from my Middle; but, unfortunately ton: is part of my last. Lol
@ashthedreamer: Yay, another soon-to-be adoptive mommy. Excited, since you are the only one I have seen so far that has mentioned adoption. If I am not prying to much, are you planning to adopt locally or internationally. I am hoping to adopt locally.

My husband and I are planning to adopt our children as well, but won't begin the process for about 2 years (we're both just beginning graduate school). It's always so exciting to see other people who are interested in adoption. We're planning on domestic adoption, and infant adoption is our preferred age.
Liliana is pretty, but a little too frilly for my tastes. I much prefer Lily or Lillian. Tobiah is cool, but I don't like the nickname Toby.
For using ethnic/diverse names, I would feel uncomfortable using an extremely distinct ethnic name for a child who has no ties to that culture. I know some names blur the lines (Genevieve, Aidan, Cruz), but I feel like it has taken some time to get there. That's maybe just me, though,
Good luck on your adoption process!

Well, I noticed that you plan to adopt locally, but before I knew that I assumed your possible baby would be from another country because of the middle names. Not that it's a bad thing, just an observation. I'm all for exotic names. And you did say you were interested in exotic and mythological names, so my first thought was that Liliana and Tobiah, along with your other first name options, don't sound very exotic. However, your middle name options (Aurora, Orion, Rajani, Ravi, Sage & Phoenix) are exotic and/or mythological. I like all your choices so far, but my personal preference would be Aurora and Orion as first names, and I would prefer Tobias instead of Tobiah.

Congratulations on your future adopted son or daughter! You have great naming taste and it is almost impossible to decide between them all except that I would still spell Orion as such even if it has to move to the first name spot.
Liliana and Tobiah are great as a sibset - perfect, beautiful.
Chloe Sage and Cadence Aurora are both beautiful choices I love the combos. I think that the 'berries' will consider Chloe too popular and Cadence not enough 'on trend' but all that aside they are great choices.
Chandler Phoenix and Courtland Arion I love the name of Chandler it is very handsome a great choice, however I do not like Phoenix it is a little dated now and while I see that you have a theme going I don't like this choice. You may like Chandler Lane, Chandler Elliott, Chandler Felix.
Courtland Arion I am not that fond of this combo. I would prefer Orion Courtland or Remington Courtland nn Remy. (Sorry not keeping the C theme for first name going).
Also Charlton Leo, Charlton Maxwell, Charlton Xenon (sorry too 'n' heavy), Charlton Samuel.
rollo
