Trying to find an alternative to Tyler

My husband and I are expecting a boy in November. I have always dreamed of calling my son Samuel. It's a family name and my favorite boy name in the world. Everyone loves it, except my husband. I have agreed to use it as his middle name instead of his first. I have found several names that I like, but he has vetoed everything. He is stuck on the name Tyler. I think Tyler is alright, but much too popular in our area. I have a very common name and hated being known as Tiffany C. All through school. I don't want that for my son. My husband doesn't mind how common it is. We both like older southern names. Any ideas for antique names for my little boy? Something that goes with Samuel?

What about Silas or Cyrus? Your husband might like the shared long i sound at the beginning from Tyler.

Oh, Samuel is so handsome! It's too bad about it being a MN, but I do think it works so well there, it works with so many names. I definitely wouldn't give in to Tyler--it's a fine name, but it feels really dated to me. I know a lot of Tylers my age or just a bit younger. What about:

    Henry Samuel
    Evan Samuel/Ethan Samuel
    Holden Samuel
    Isaac Samuel
    Benjamin Samuel
    Nicholas Samuel
    Leo Samuel
    Levi Samuel
    Winston Samuel
    Declan Samuel
    August Samuel
    Oliver Samuel
    Lincoln Samuel

    Good luck!

    Tristan Samuel
    Thomas Samuel
    Todd Samuel
    Wayne Samuel
    Clay Samuel
    Hayden Samuel
    Wyatt Samuel
    Flynn Samuel
    Colton Samuel
    Levi Samuel
    Drew Samuel
    Owen Samuel
    Jackson Samuel
    Noah Samuel

I tried to include some that started with 'T' Some that had a 'y' in the name and a some that I just though sounded nice.

    All the best

Ooh I like the suggestion of Elias. That or Eli might satisfy your desire for something antique, older, and Southern while holding onto some of the sounds that your husband might like from Tyler.
