He was very shy but it worked- we were smitten with each other and for our very first date we sat in the rain watching an England cricket match because we're English and weird like that Anyway, after 18 months of going out, he proposed.

Our Story:
Eddie and I were introduced by a mutual friend, Laura Katherine Bell. I'd been friends with her in high school. Eddie was Laura's boyfriend's cousin. He came up from Texas to New York, where I was in college, partly on business, and partly to see Laura's boyfriend, Tom. Laura couldn't pick him up from the airport, and I volunteered. As soon as we met, I knew I had found someone that understood me completely. And he felt the same. I went to dinner with Laura, Tom and Eddie, and when Laura suggested that I took Eddie round New York, we both jumped at the chance. The next day, we got to know each other better...

Eddie had studied Business Management in [6. Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana], before going back to work in Texas. He worked as a business consultant, but really wanted to be a chef.

Our first proper date was a disaster!! Eddie had resigned as a business consultant, and moved to White Plains, NY to be nearer to me, and he had been made sous chef at a popular restaurant. Eddie decided that he would finally make our relationship official with a tour of our favorite places in New York - Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building... Oh, he promised to take us everywhere.... Unfortunately, one bad thing happened after the next - it was raining buckets, the Statue of Liberty was closed for refurbishment, the Empire State Building had had a bomb threat, so no one was allowed in. We finally gave up and decided that we'd just see a movie and grab some food afterwards. But even that plan crashed and burned - due to the incredibly bad weather, there was a power cut half way through the film, and power wouldn't be restored for hours. We went for food, hoping and praying that this would go smoothly. But, it was not to be. Although the menu specified which food contained nuts, and which was safe to eat, some idiot in the kitchen still got peanuts in my food. I am extreeeeeemely allergic to peanuts - I swelled up like a balloon, and had to be taken into hospital. So, all in all, a good day.........
