I don't think you should care. Most people don't put initials together. I just had to stop and think of what mine spelled. I think your making too big of an issue over something small. I don't know what half of my friends middle names are...so I would never be able to spell out their initials.

Its a slim chance anyone will notice!!

I know an unfortunate girl with the last name ''Crotum'' we had a log in system at college where you use your first latter of your first name and then your last name. Hers was ''SCrotum'' I don't think RAC is anywhere as unfortunate as that!

I wouldn't worry about it at all!! If it spelt something rude or embarrassing I would worry, but its not bad at all!

It's a story like this that makes me think people will notice. PP mentioned initials on gym bags, my work uses initials for different things like emails, etc. I agree that it is unusual to know people's middle names unless on official documents but that's not necessarily true about initials. Like others have said, it's not like RAC is FUK or PMS, so you have to decide how much it bothers or worries you. If you're not concerned, then go with it. If you can't get it out of your head now that it's been raised, I do like the sound of River Elise.

Thanks, All. Yes, we were hoping to use Alise (pronounced like Elise basically) with an A to honor someone. That's why we are hesitant to change to Elise. I appreciate all the feedback!

I have had the same exact question! My ln starts with a C, and if we ever have another daughter, I have considered a name that gives the RAC initials too. I am however very small chested I'm glad to hear a lot of ppl sayit wouldn't bother them!

R.A.C are my initials! I was perhaps a little bummed as a kid that I couldn't make a "cool" word out of them, but definitely not ashamed!

But then I'm writing from Australia, so the bra-size reference is lost on me.

I don't think RAC is a big issue, and I am very conscious of initials. But if you feel it is an issue, then you should change it. Maybe you could change the spelling of Alise to Elise?

Actually, most kids at some point will put the initials together. And it only takes once for your child to hate her name. Her name is the biggest and longest lasting gift you ever give your child. So, if you are concerned, I would err on the side of caution and pick a different name.
